2003 Toyota MR2 Spyder SMT I know the listing left out some important options, but for those of you that know about these cars, you already know that they all have power windows, locks and mirrors. They all have A/C and a great sounding factory installed stereo system. I'm not sure if they all had AM/FM/Cassette and CD, but this one does. They all have 4 wheel disc brakes and aluminum wheels. And they all look like they're going 100 mph even when they're standing still, these cars have a great look to them not really duplicated by anything else on the road. Be prepared, they generate onlookers and questions at gas stations and parking lots all the time. Of course, with a car that gets 30 mpg, you don't spend too much time in gas stations. Here's the important stuff... This car has the SMT 6-speed transmission. This should not be confused with an automatic transmission that has a manual mode. There is no torque converter. This car has a clutch that is computer controlled. The driver simply moves the shift lever backward or forward (or presses the buttons on the steering wheel) to choose upshift or downshift, and then the computer reacts by engaging the clutch while reducing throttle, changing gears, reapplying throttle, and releasing the clutch. All of this happens quickly and seamlessly. When you stop, the clutch is automatically engaged. Pulling away from a stop, the computer deals with hills as well as the difference between normal driving or an quick take off. It really is surprising how well this system works. I expected some instances where this system would be less than perfect, but have never found one. Cars that were equipped with the SMT transmission also received leather seats, cruise control, and anti-lock brakes. (I believe anti-lock was available as an option on 5-speed cars, but leather and cruise were not) The SMT cars also received 16" rear wheels and wider tires. The fronts are the same 15" found on all 4 corners of a 5-speed car. This small change improves the cornering capabilities of an already very capable performer, and also gives the car a more aggressive stance. This car is in very nice condition. It has been well kept and has been regularly maintained using fully synthetic oil. Rear brakes are new including calipers. Front tires are great, rears are good. Battery is new (the original finally gave out). This car needs nothing but a new owner. We'll be sad to see it go, but have decided it's time.
