Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Up for auction is the family 1962 Mercedez-Benz “Heckflosse” or “Fintail” sedan (MB model 220 Sb). Taken possession right from the factory in Stuttguart by my dad, this car is still in great condition. Exterior is in great condition as the last part of its life has been in the garage and driven little. Paint has been repainted at least twice (always the same color). No sign of rust. Saw one chip mark (size of a nickel) on the edge of the rear trunk. Runs strong, don’t know the actual mileage. Engine was replaced with one from a 220b numerous years ago (original engine spec-ed at 124 HP, replacement engine spec 105 HP). In-line 6. Dual Solex 34 PJCB downdraft carburetors recently rebuilt and tuned. Front disk brakes, rear drum (with the * new * ATE Power Brake – aka, master cylinder!) No air conditioning. Heater has been disconnected in the engine (radiator fluid has been shunted to not service the interior heater – don’t know why). Manual fuel pump still attached to engine, but is not being used – an unknown electric pump from has been installed. 4 speed transmission on the column. Rear axel is not original. No sign of wear on the muffler. New tires. Drives well, has power, shifts smooth. Interior is ok but needs work. Leather seats are in very good condition – no tears or rips. One tear in the headliner, and a couple of water? stains. No carpet. Dash is old and has been repaired (poorly) in the past. Cloth detail (around doors) is coming apart. Clock does not work. Square after-market volt meter and amp meter added to dash. No radio. All glass in great condition – no scratches or pits. A great solid car, but not in showroom quality; although, with the right person, could definitely be in that condition. That person is not me; is it you? Comes with two volume factory repair manuals.
