Vehicle Detail
1982 Jetta Mk1 2-door Diesel Coupe California car. It's rare enough to find an unrusted 2-door coupe. Even more rare to find a diesel but has AC & AT? Wow! Perfect commuter or smog exempt hotrod. Install a 1.9TD AAZ or a TDI in this baby and go zoom-zoom-zoom and still fuel. I get real 40mpg though EPA estimate said something like 54mpg back in the day. I goes 70mph on the freeway. Has the special E (economy) position on the auto trans. Please email for more photos. Engine rebuilt by former owner's uncle one-year before I owned it. He did not provide receipts. I replaced the radiator and thremostat with a new German unit. Also had vacuum pump rebuilt. This is a relatively easy project. Driver's side window won't roll down and wing windows sealed with silicone caulk. Headlight adjusters needreplacement. Nothing major I can think of. Have your mechanic look car over to satisfy yourself as to exact condition. Minor body work needed on area below windshield which got dented when former owner left front hood unlatched. You can go to this link and see more pics: http://tinyurl.com/82JettaCoupe Folks please note that this a 28+ year old car. It needs some attention although the major components are currently functional. No offense intended but if any of the 55 people watching the auction as of today is looking for a new car, you should NOT be buying this car. Expect to do some work to satisfy your expectations. Brakes work but I have not had them looked at. AC works but should be recharged periodically. For example, one potential asked how well the car handles. If you are used to driving an unmodified 1938 Ford pick-up truck, this car will literally blow it's doors off and run circles around you. On the other hand, if you are used to driving a 2008 Ferrari 360 Modena Spyder, this car will feel like roller skates on steel wheels. I love all the fantastic questions both on and offline but I do not want to delude anybody into thinking that this is a show/dream machine. I've owned the car a while but rarely drive it. I have a lot of other cars to use. As such I have limited experience with all the systems. I do welcome any pre-purchase inspection you want to perform if you send your mechanic, friend, or anyone you trust to check the car for you. This was going to be my little coupe project but I just plain short on time. I have too many unfinished project and SWMBO (She Who Must Be Obeyed) says it has to go. By the way, please read the Q&A at the end of the auction desription. I've answered some questions there which should be helpful in answering some of your concerns. Cheers.
