Vehicle Detail

Beautiful 1967 Mercedes 250S with automatic transmission and straight 6 cylinder engine. I bought this car from a young couple in Denver. They owned the car for approximately 10 years. They used it as a Sunday driver. They bought the car in Denver from a Mercedes fanatic who spent approximately 35K on its restoration. They could not find receipts and only could give me a list from the previous owner of what was completed. It is evident that no expense was sparred to restore this car. Here is how is list reads: 1) Car body was totally stripped of all removable parts and stripped-down to bare metal. The right front quarter panel was replaced rather than repaired (not collision damage). The two-stage Sikkens primer and paint were applied. The following body parts were replaced: windshield, chrome side and window trim, all rubber trim and door, hood, and trunk gaskets and floor liner. Both bumpers and radiator cowling were re-plated, new hub caps. Cost $10,070. 2) Drive line repair $236.00 3) engine rebuild - $3776 4) factory rebuilt differential - $496.00 5) Transmission mount - $121.00 6) Dynometer engine tune - $198.00 7) Rebuilt Starter - $110.00 8) Replace steering dampener - $48.00 9) Replace neutral safety switch - $90.00 10) Battery $132.00 11) Replace and refinish interior wood - $2000 12) Replace headliner and door trim - $1740 13) Sound System -$ 710.00 14) Tint Windows - $161.00 15) Install Dash Wood - $171.00 16) Original Purchase price of car - $2000 17) Recover seats - $1632 18) MB seat belts and harness upgrade (front) - $725.00 19) New carpet - $450.00 20) New floor mats - $85.00 21) Accessory tray - $45.00 22) Misc. Parts - $525.00 23) Nardi Wood 3 spoke steering wheel I don't know if this couple ever got the receipts or lost them but they told me they could not find them. Mercedes have always been a passion of mine especially big grill types, coupes and sedans. I also love convertibles in this era but they are pricey..... The paint is beautifully done but has some small bubbling in 4 areas all of which seem to be just above the surface and not all the way through. There is one spot that has a scrape in the paint and is only surface rust. The seats were done in Mercedes Tex and the carpet appears to be a German tight weave and is plush and beautiful. The headliner is nice, the steering wheel is very pretty although I like the original type as well. The door panels are nice but have some cracks I believe two in both front doors on the top about 5". The glass is all clear and the tint was done in good taste. The radio is a Sound Stream, a good brand but not worth $700.00+ he listed in the description of work done above. The radio pulls out easily if you want to remove it.. I changed the 2 front door speakers with Pioneer 2 way speakers and used the original door holes. They are covered by the original panels. The wood is all there but the clear has cracked on much of it - it still looks nice but certainly not show quality. Someone told me the wood is fine but the clear has cracked. The piece of wood on the rear driver's side top has weathered and needs to be replaced. The engine compartment was painted and the fire wall relined. The battery was changed by the prior owners and looks small but has plenty of power. The original battery in the 1960s was much longer. The chrome on the car is beautiful and has only few small blemishes. The lights, horn, vents all work except for the small light between the sun visors. The heater blower does not work - I have to check the book and see if it has an actual blower to be honest. The wipers work well and are 2 speed the washer does not work and I have not looked into it. The washer bag is there and the pedal for the wipers washer activates the wipers when stepped on. My mechanic who has worked on German cars for over 40 years came with me to Denver to check out the car before I purchased her. The compression was approx 110 in each cylinder at mile high Denver. He checked the king pins and steering and that was fine. I had my mechanic adjust the valves and replace the valve gasket, new plugs, replace oil, coolant, and transmission fluids. He showed me the valves under the cover and commented on how clean the engine was. He also replaced the rear hydraulic center suspension unit with a spring from Sun Valley Mercedes as the car was sagging in the rear. The spring is a permanent fix. The brakes are like new and 4 wheel disk. The key has to be wiggled in the ignition when you turn the car off. If it bothers you you could have it replaced. The badges on the front of the car are from different countries and I do not no the background on them. I just like them - they came on the car when I purchased it. The fabric liner in the front door panel pocket has come undone on the driver's side and is missing on the passenger's side - without the lining you see vinyl which looks fine. The tires have plenty of tread. There is a small amount of play in the steering wheel. The car is beautiful and I would love to keep it but lost my space in a good friends 3rd car garage. Her dad bought a new Camaro and he gets to store it there come September. If you purchase the car I will work with your shipper. I do not play games and take care of my vehicles. I do not have a BIN on this car. The car comes with a Chilton's repair manual and a custom made blue car cover. I am happy to bring the car in for a pre-purchase check to the mechanic of your choice in my area. If you have this done you pay the fees. Whenever I drive her I get compliments. She has a nice ride and very classy looks. Good Luck! The carbs were changed to Webers and are in great shape. On Aug-20-10 at 18:00:32 PDT, seller added the following information: 1) I have been asked about the mileage by a few people. The mileage I have listed is on the clock now. I would guess it turned over 100K once already 2) The gentleman who restored the car added two Weber 2 barrel carbs. My mechanic while inspecting the car said they look like new. These are a great improvement over the stock which were probably Zenith or Solex Carbs. 3) I drove the car today on the highway and it was 90 degrees, it ran fine and ran fairly cool. 4) I had 2 new keys made and if I turn the car off with a fairly quick turn to the left the ignition works fine. On Sep-03-10 at 07:22:36 PDT, seller added the following information: I reserve the right to end this auction early as the car is now listed locally.
