Vehicle Detail
You are bidding 2002 Chrysler Town and Country Minivan. Please read the full description as this is a great deal to the right person. The van was modified Braun conversions to make it handicap accessible. It has a lowered floor and a wheelchair ramp on the passenger side that lowers with a button on the key fob. There is a lockout on the driver's side for a wheelchair and the front passenger seat has been set up to accommodate the handicap as well with an electronic swivel, tilt and lift function. It appears the passenger seat can be moved over to the driver's side as well. Hand controls for the brake and gas pedals function as they should. Being the van is a Town and Country, it is equipped with all the options one would expect to include: 3.3 liter V-6 with the E-85 Flex Fuel option Automatic Transmission Power sliding doors Rear Power Lift Gate AM-FM CD player Overhead information center Aluminum Rims Power Windows Power Locks Power Rear Wing Windows Tilt Cruise Steering Wheel controls I am selling this van for a friend who has been buying these vans over the years for her handicap daughter. I will do everything I can to describe this van to the best of my knowledge. I have drove this van for about 50 miles since she told me to take it and sell it to the highest bidder. This van was upwards of $50,000 when it was new. This van has it's bumps and bruises around the body and because of the lowered floor, it has lost a few pieces of the plastic ground effects over the last few winters. All of the glass is good and I can only see 1 small star chip in the windshield. There are some rust spots photographed on the van which, from what I am told, is a common occurrence on vans with the body modification. The van will start right up and idles fine. The engine pulls the van down the road and the transmission shifts out fine. The van does not leak any fluids that I have noticed as it sits in my driveway. The owner says they have put a newer engine and transmission in it. I told her, if she does not have the paperwork to show me then I cannot prove it to any buyers. It does seem as though it runs as if it has half the miles of what the odometer says. If the paper work is produced, I will add photos and details to the description. The van's brakes grab fine and the rotors appear to be in good shape; looking at them through the rims. All of the electronics switches and power options seem to work as they should. The power rear gate works fine and at the touch of a button. The ABS light is on, on the dash. The exterior lights all work as they should. The front driver's headlamp bracket is broken and sits in the hole. The rims have brake dust on them that will scrub off with a little elbow grease. The front tires are Kumho brand and are about 2/3 tread. The rear tires are not the same brand and the driver's rear shows a little more wear. The interior has normal wear and tear as to be expected with a van of this age along with some small stains on the seats. The one major thing wrong with this van is a broken shock mount on the rear driver's side. It appears to have broke and punched a hole in the floor pan inside by the rear seats from the lowered floor modification. I had a welding shop look at it and they thought it would take a couple hours and about $200 to have it fixed up like new to include repairing the floor. Again, I have driven this van a short distance and the shock being broke does make it ride a little bouncier, but doesn't affect the ride too much. The air conditioner blows cool but not cold and could probably use a charge. I would recommend that if this van continues to be used for the handicap that it be checked out by a certified handicap up-fitter to insure the wiring and other handicap features are up to specs for a nominal fee. I also found out when listing this van on Ebay, Autocheck showed a rebuilt title from a previous accident back in 2006. It was repaired at that time and placed back on the road and has been driven without any issues related to the repairs. Please keep in mind that the value of the conversions far out weigh the title issue in my opinion. Many vehicles on the road today have title issues and they are driven without any problem. In short, this van is a perfect entry level van or for someone on a limited income and comes with no reserve. It has the conversion that now a days costs many thousands of dollars. If you need a van to get back and forth to doctor's appointments, around town periodically or perhaps want a van to start a transportation business then this may be your ticket. Or, if you want to transfer the equipment from one van to another and need a van like this for parts??? I am offering this van as-is with no warranty expressed or implied. I gave the van a quick bath and wiped down the interior and it is sold as it sits. Buy this van expecting to put a few hundred dollars in it to fix the shock mount and check out the conversion equipment. Save thousands investing in making this van suit your needs. Parts for these vans are a dime a dozen and cheap too!! Ask any and all questions prior to bidding and good luck. On Aug-31-10 at 21:44:26 PDT, seller added the following information:Another interested party asked a question about the repair for the shock. I should have stated that a guy that works at a welding shop looked at the repair and said it should not be too hard of a fix and that the metal for the floor pan can be fixed pretty easy as well. I also wanted to note that when I was moving the van around I did notice the power sliding doors working with the button on the key fob all of the time. I could hear the motor working on the passenger side with the ramp. The doors do open and close manually without and trouble. Please keep in mind that with this conversion, there are a lot of added electronics which could be part of the problem. I am doing my best to accurately describe this vehicle in the few days that I have had it. With all that in mind, please remember the van is as is and bidding started at $500 with no reserve.
