Vehicle Detail
Let me start by telling you what this is not. This wagon was not a family truckster that endured years of grubby fingers, dog puke, chewing gum, happy meals and spilled drinks. It did not sit outside and bake under the sun with faded wood paneling or get rusted out by the winter salt. This car is a survivor. I love these wagons and I always check them out when I see them on the road, which sadly is infrequently as the minivan and SUV have taken over the world. Unfortunately, every time I see one it's ragged out and I mean really ragged out. These cars were family workhorses with no thought to being cool or stylish or retro or collectible. So about a year and a half ago I saw this car pop up at my local GM dealer. An elderly man had bought it new there in 1989 and had it serviced there ever since. He traded it in on some new Pontiac. I couldn't believe it. To me it was the holy grail of cruisers. So I bought it right away. Put in a new battery and rear shocks and rolled. People stare, wave, honk and give you the thumbs up and it seems like every middle aged person in the country must have ridden in these things to the beach in summer or Disney World etc. Teenagers think it's cool, but probably because of "The 70's Show." Sadly, I moved and don't have the garage space for it and don't want it sitting on the street - I don't want to be the one to rag it. Ideally someone with similar fond memories of these cars will buy it and preserve it. Would be an awesome starter collector car to roll down to a local show. So here are the details. It's an 89 Custom Cruiser with 3rd row seat. It has 95k miles, but an engine bay as clean as a whistle and doesn't burn oil etc. Starts great, runs great. Steering is tight, suspension solid and brakes are very good. It a nutshell perfectly maintained. Engine is the GM LV2 which is 5 liter 4 barrel V8 (307). AC has been serviced and blows cold. The car is loaded with all the Olds power options like PS, PB, PW, PL, power seats and mirrors. Also has limited slip and tow package. Interior is perfect except for a little wear on the mats. There is also some sagging to the headliner. The exterior is amazing. The car has had a quality repaint to match the original dark blue metallic. The "genuine" fake wood is awesome. The chrome is great. A little haze or crackle here and there, but you need to be at one foot to see it. No rust - anywhere. Even the little chrome trim strips around the wheel wells are perfect. I will accept Paypal (with 3% added) for deposit, cash or cashier's check for balance. Buyer must pick up or cover shipping cost and is responsible for tax, tags etc. There is no warranty. I am also showing the car locally and reserve the right to cancel the auction at any time if I have a local buyer. There is no reserve. No trades or international sales.
