Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is a 1954 Chevrolet COE model 5700 truck. I bought this truck 11 years ago and haven't had time to rebuild it. I purchased it from a farmer about 20 miles away and drove it home. It has been stored inside a machine shed since I purchased it and has been started each year except the last 3-4 years. When I drove it home it ran fine except it slipped out of 2nd gear a couple of times - it has a 4 speed transmission and 2 speed axle along with a 6 cylinder engine. The gas tank has been relined but I'm not guarnteeing the results. It is very typical of a truck that came off a farm in northwest Missouri. The cab is very straight for a farm truck, however it does have a little rust in in the driver's door jamb about the size of a baseball. I would consider the other rust very light and easily fixed. The top of the cab is not caved in and very straight. The rear window has the rubber gasket missing. It is a 5-window model and the two curved windows appear to be in perfect condition. The floor panels are there and in good shape. I do not think you will find a COE more complete and in better condition for the money. The tires are in poor condition but have held air since I purchased it. The brakes would need to be rebuilt but have lost their prime or whatever happens to them - they did work when I drove it home and parked it. It has a 13' steel bed with a hydraulic hoist under it which works. The truck rolls and steers good. I have a rebuilt starter for it which needs to be installed. The key switch needs to be changed out and is currently hanging below the dash. I have a clear Missouri title in hand. Truck has been stored inside the past 11 years until this week when we pulled it out in the field to take pictures. Transportation is the responsibility of the buyer. I will assist you if possible. $500 is due via paypal within 48 hours of auction close. Remainder in cash is due at time of or before vehicle leaves my possession but no longer than 14 days after the close of auction. On Aug-23-10 at 17:37:18 PDT, seller added the following information:Just discovered today that there is a problem with the title. The title the farmer gave me 11 years ago does not match the VIN on the truck. However it is a title for a 54 Chev truck. He's looking for the correct title but he's 86 years old and he said his memory isn't that good. I'm in the process of contacting the state license bureau to have them search the VIN on the truck so he can sign over the title if the state can find it in their system. The current high bidder at this time will have the option of either taking the truck at the listed bid with a "bill of sale" or being able to back out of the deal. I do not know how long it will take when dealing with the license bureau and getting everything straight. All future bids after this evening will be given a "bill of sale" with no guarntee of a correct title being delivered. It's a mess!!!
