Vehicle Detail
For auction is a 1986 Honda TLR 200 “Reflex” On-Off road and fully street-legal vintage motorcycle with a kick start. It is white with blue and red trim. Only way it came other than those sold in California. Understand that only about 11 million were manufactured. I paid $1495 and had new tires - it still had the originals - and seals in the front forks replaced. Also, had it tuned and the milage cable reattached. It shows around 1,600 miles on the odometer. As it is obvious that the cable had been disconnected for much of its life, it is hard to know the actually number of miles on this baby. Yet, and this is crucial, the bike is near pristine, “museum-quality” condition. The bike was listed on eBay last spring and the owner of a small customizing shop, Existential Motorcycles, near Asheville put me on to the bike as was it listed by an Asheville resident. My contact drove over and went over the bike. His report was that it really should be in a museum. The owner seemingly was a obsessive fanatic on maintenance and condition - it was near “showroom” condition. In fact, my contact really did not want me to ride the bike as thought I might damage it! All who have seen and ridden the bike, agree! It is great. I was the high bidder for $1,500. My though was to use this bike to learn to ride motorcycles as could practice on the fields of my farm. Since its purchase, I and a friend may have put 30-40 miles on the bike. I tried, and I emphasize “tried,” a few practice rides around my friend’s land, only to fall a few times. The last time with the bike on top of me, resulting in a heavy-bruised leg and a mirror glass on the bike breaking. Decided than that a mid-60 year old kid needs to stick with vehicles with four wheels. Am now looking for an MGA sports car. Thus, I am now listing it for sale. Although it may be considered to be in extremely good condition, it does have a few small scratches in the paint, one broken mirror lens (the frame and shaft are ok and I understand the lens are available). Yet, you will be able to ride it with out worry and will have many years of great on or off road riding ahead on you. The bike is in Greeneville, TN 37743, which is just inside the eastern state line from Asheville, NC and has a clear Tennessee title. It can delivered anywhere within 100 miles or so for $50.00. If outside of that range, you will need to pick the bike up or have a shipper pick it up and delivered.
