I have a 1970 Chevy shortbed that I'm looking to sell. I got a new job and realize I don't have time to turn wrenches for fun anymore (only job I've done is my brakes on my DD). As a result I'm looking to sell this truck. I got the truck about a year ago when I got rid of my old Jeep. In my opinion, all the problems are relatively minor to make this a fun truck to run around in. Here are the specs: 1970 Chevy Shortbed 2WD 305 V8 from a mid-80s camero. The intake manifold was swapped to a carb. The truck spent all its early years in TX. In my understanding, I'm the 3rd Indiana owner. The first kept the truck inside, the 2nd kept it outside. I had it parked inside until the last 4 months. The suspension is in good shape, it tracks down the highway well. The bad: The proportioning valve appears to have a minor leak to the rear only. Minor leak means adding fluid every 100 miles of around town driving. If I was going to keep the truck, I'd replace/upgrade the part. The transmission has an odd leak. When turned off it sometimes empties all of the fluid. I would recommend rebuilding the transmission as the shifts points don't quite seem right. Shifted manually it seems to do well most of the time. The previous owner claimed the motor would burn oil if you got on the gas hard. I haven't had any problems with it, but it was a problem declared to me when I got the truck. The radiator has one or two small holes that only leak when the engine is warm. This is the only problem that would make it hard to drive the truck home, not saying it can't be done...it would just make it more challenging. The ugly: The interior is very spartan. The carpet was pulled before I got the truck and the floorpan could look much nicer. Its not severly rusted, but will require some antenna. The worst rust spot on the hole truck (that I've found) is the passenger cab corner. I think it would be fixable with fiberglass, but it's missing a few square inches of metal. On the top of the windshield frame (passenger side) there is a rust spot that would likely require pulling the windshield to fix. The rest of the rust spots are fixable with bondo in my opinion.
