Vehicle Detail
The trunk and underside are a common concern for many prospective buyers. My mechanic told me when I bought the car that the floors are okay. I thought okay was just ok. Today I crawled underneath and was amazed to see that the floors don’t even have surface rust. The muffler, brake lines and drums have rust, but I saw that before. The trunk has surface rust as you can see, but no holes. Only one small hole in the back left corner above the trunk area, near the shock tower area. The doors, trunk and hood open and close with no sagging or misalignment and close smoothly with a nice thunk. The bumble bee nose is original and I took some close-up shots today. The pin stripe was also a rare factory option, as was the original perfect condition bench seats. This option was the H code in the Cowl tag code. Only a few thousand camaros had this rare option. You can cruse around with 5 friends in your camaro! The last 1967 camaro built ended with a vin number 254698. My camaro ends in 254043. There were only 655 camaros built after mine and most likely mine is the last surviving 1967 camaro built. (especially in all original condition). The Cowl tag shows 07B which is the second week in July 1967 when the last 1967 camaro rolled off the assembly line. Since production was around 600 camaros a day, it may be likely that it was built on the last day of production. If not, then definitely the second to last day. You may never see another car like this again, anywhere. The original dash has absolutely no cracks or damage as of today. Please click link for pictures -over two hundred pics showing all details. http://picasaweb.google.com/gugisone/Camaro?feat=directlink On both leaf springs there is a yellow tag with the following number BW3925815. It looks original from the factory. I am not sure what it stands for. Vin # 123377N254043 Cowl tag reads as follows: General Motors Corporation 07B B ST 67-12437NOR153955 Body TR 7 39-H F-F Paint 35K 5B Body by Fisher We are 5 minutes from JFK airport and 15 min from LGA. If you win the bid and are flying in I will gladly pick you up at the airport. This is a true all numbers matching barn find. Owned by the same family since new until I purchased it in 2004. Original paint, keys, owner’s manual and even hubcaps. Engine and transmission have never been removed from the car. 109K original miles. No worries that it is a phony SS or Z/28 or COPO or non matching big block that someone claims is numbers matching. This is a plain Jane marina blue exterior with bright blue interior. The car is an automatic on the column with a straight 6, 250 engine. In other words no-one took off Z/28 tags and pulled out a big block engine to make this car. It’s a less expensive model with a smaller engine, however this is what kept it from being wrapped around a tree by 1969. The original owner was in his 40’s when he bought it and drove it carefully. This Swedish gentleman is now in his 80’s and can vividly remember many details about the car and his purchase from the dealer ( the original owner’s number and address comes with the purchase so you can get a real history lesson on the car). My goal was to use this as a daily or a weekly driver since it runs nice and is economical and eventually restore it. I just couldn’t get myself to repaint the car since it is original only once. The only things I would do to it to use it right away, is replace the musty original carpeting which makes the car smell, repair or replace the headliner which has one row or two of thread that got loose and is causing the open headliner to block the rear view. Also there is a rust hole in the muffler pipe right after the manifold. She starts right up and would be a nice thrifty runaround car until the end of the year then I would restore it over the winter and have a knockout car for the upcoming spring. I recently was told by my mechanic that they ran a test for the most durable engine ever made. They ran about 15-20 different types of engines and slowly drained the oil from them. The last one to stop running without oil was the Chevy 250. Pretty bulletproof. That’s another reason I hesitated to butcher-up this original beauty. Sure she has rust on the body and in the trunk but it was never hit. When someone claims a car is all original and it is mint it should be looked upon with caution because it is so rare. Most early camaros were restored in the 80’s and 90’s and several times through several owners. Most have gone through so much that it is difficult to know the original history. Well, I hope you like to read since here is the story from new to now ( all documented by original owner). Car was bought new in June 1967 at REEDMANS in Langhorne, PA. In 1973 owner gave camaro to their daughter with 67K miles. She returned the car in 1982 with 109K miles. Drove into the barn in 1982 and it was never moved until August 14,2004 when I purchased it. On front and rear bumpers you can make out parking permit bumper stickers from the university of Maryland / College Park. They expired May 31, 1976. They are very worn but legible. I have the registration from March 1973 when it was in the parent’s name and the present title when it was reregistered by the parents in December 1982. IF you have any questions or would like to see this nice running smooth shifting camaro in person, feel free to call me directly anytime. My cell # 917-841-36 three nine. PS. PHOTOS: http://picasaweb.google.com/gugisone/Camaro?feat=directlink The car also comes with a toy trailer hauler 40th anniversary, that was never opened, that I bought in 2007.See pics. I will also include the big heavy camaro history book that is out of print, I believe, and has a wealth of information. Even after the book is read, and if you still have questions, just call the original owner and he will be glad to chew your ear with details. Best of luck. Please note, I reserve the right to cancel the auction. If you have excessive negative feedback or zero feedback, contact me before bidding or your bid may be cancelled. Payment due upon purchase, paypal and cash ONLY. Winning bidder to arrange transportation. Car must be picked up within 7 days of auction close. Vehicle located in Queens, New York. Q &A: Q: What is the condition of the floors, trunk floor. Most cars in the north east rust out from the bottom up.... A: It's a solid and safe driver. floors are solid, trunk has surface rusty. It spent just about all its life in a barn and my garage. Years down the line you may want to just put in new floors and a trunk if you're restoring it right. I showed the car today and the potential buyers were surprised at how original everything is. I also have the original marina blue gas cap from the car. It was a little loose, and I didn't want to lose it when I flatbedded it home, so I replaced it with the tighter silver one. The original one just needs a gasket and, of course, it comes with the car. The car didn't start up when I was showing it today. I ran to buy a brand new battery and she started right up and ran smooth. The battery cost almost $100 dollars and I'm giving it with the car. Now you can really drive it home. It shifted, as always, nice and smooth and steady. I hope this great car gets a nice home and owner. Q: would u consider trades? A: I never used this car so I'm not really interested in another. I got my kicks just sitting in it starting it up and dreaming about how one day...just owning it was the best medicine for me after a long, long search. Besides my wife would put my body in the trunk if I got your car! Q: Is this car running now? Is this car in good enough condition to fly in and drive it home? A: The car starts right up and you can drive it anywhere. Just bring your own plates and you're off. Even the tires are very good all around.
