Vehicle Detail

PLEASE read my entire listing and view all photos before bidding. Up for auction is my 1963 Volkswagen Beetle. The early 60's beetles are growing very scarce making it difficult to find one that has not been abused, molested, converted to a rat rod or used for a kit car. The search for this little gem has taken me over 2000 miles across the Southeast, looking at 7 other potential Bugs before discovering her hidden away in a garage. I have been told that I'm the 3rd owner. I can't document this, but I have no reason to discredit the previous owner's belief as the car was in great original condition. This VW has all the original german fenders on it and are RUST FREE (not the lower guage Taiwanese replacements). Also original is the german glass, all stamped with VW logos (except windshield) and all in excellent condition. The electrics are all nice and tidy with no rusty or corroded terminals or wires. All the electrical components work as new. It also has its original 1200cc 40hp engine. It is VERY hard to find one that has not been replaced with a newer, more powerful engine. All interior paint (interior trim/dash, trunk area, and engine bay) and interior upholstery are original and in excellent condition. Please see photos. It's cleary evident that this VW has been well cared for all of its life. The only rust I found on the car was in the battery box, which is a common problem. The floor pans themselves were a little ify so I went on and had complete new floor pans (both sides) installed from front to back which also took care of the battery box. All work was done by a professional, and correct german floor pans were used. (see photo). This was the only rust in the car..(now completly rust free!). She has had the front end rebuilt with all new shocks and she drives like a dream. The drivetrain shifts up and down absolutly perfect with no funny noises. The engine purrs as it did when new. I have a clear Georgia title in my name ready to be signed over to the next owner. I even have the original owners manual, and the original Safire radio is still in the dash! This little beauty turns heads and gets thumbs up where ever I take her. I've had some recent health problems and need to find her a new home. Below is a list detailing all that has been done to the car: 1. The car was repainted about 3 years ago with the original Bahama Blue (paint code L519) color with the single stage paint that was used from the factory. As you can see from the photos it still looks as new. It lays down beautifully with no nicks or scratches. The fenders were removed before painting and all new fender welping replaced when reinstalled. 2. All of the original wheels were sand blasted and repainted to the original color that was on them when sitting in the showroom 47 years ogo. The color is called Pale Blue (paint code L289). 3. I then mounted brand new Coker wide white wall tires on the rims which were an original assessory in 1963. With shipping, the tires were over $900.00 but really add to the beauty with this color combo. Also added were new hubcaps. 4. The front end has been completly rebuilt. It drives as tight as it did when new and tracts down the highway perfect. All shocks were replaced with the original oil shocks which ride ten fold better than the replacement gas shocks. 5. All rubber in the car has been replaced including the window scrapers (this is the rubber on either side of the roll up windows in the doors). Most people don't replace these as the labor for doing so is around $400.00. Windows roll up and down with ease. 6. My mechanic has been working on classic beetles for 40 years and he has completly gone over the engine and replaced everything that was needed. Included were: new plugs, wires, points, condensor, fuel pump, new fuel lines, new filter, oil sending unit, oil pump, valve adjustment, and fine tuned. Also a new german muffler with new tips (this is not the cheap replacement muffler you can buy for $49.95. It is all German equipment at a cost of $200.00). This VW doesn't use or drip any oil whatsoever and runs very strong. Once again I stress that this is the original 1200cc 40hp engine that was installed at the factory (NOT A REPLACEMENT). 7. The car has been converted from 6 volt to 12 volt electrical system so the 6 volt Safire radio does not operate. I have mounted out of sight in the glove box a fantastic sounding Alpine CD reciever. The speakers are located in the luggage well behind the rear seat so nothing was molested during installation. You can't have air conditioning so you might as well be able to listen to some good music! The CD player and the 12 volt system are the only two things away from originality and neither will hurt this little beauty at a car show. 9. As I said in the paragraph above, all floor pans have been replaced with new German pans and undercoated for rust prevention. These come with new seat tracts so the seats adjust up and back with ease. Most of the VW's you find, even the nice ones, the seats are rusted in one position. Also all new sound deadener and rubber on the floors (see photo). 9. The brakes have been checked out and all new hoses were installed and adjusted. She stops on a dime. 10. All chrome is in perfect condition. Front and rear bumpers are new. 11. Headlight buckets and chrome are new. Blinker lights and tail lights are also new. All operate as they should. Even the blinkers cancel out after a turn as they should. 12. I did not replace the interior as it was far too nice to touch. Even the headliner is perfect condition. I did install new sun visors. (see photos) 13. The front trunk has been completly detailed out with new trunk liner and new thick black pile carpet made for this VW. Also, new wiring cover was installed. The spare tire/wheel is in excellent condition and complete with the original jack in place. 14. All heater channels are in great shape and the heat works perfectly. 15. New show quality running boards were also installed. At 65 years old I'm sure I've left something out. If you have ever restored a car before you know that these projects are not done on a low budget. While I am not listing the car as museum quality, (if I was I'd be asking $25,000 for it) it is certainly in excellent condition. The NADA value on this beauty is $14,350. I saw a 1962 VW, which was a barn find, that just sold on ebay for $6500.00 and it needed everything. The buyers on that car will end up with over $15,000.00 invested in it to get it as nice as my '63. My BIN price is far less than book value, and if you want to try and steal her, it's not impossible as my reserve is even lower. This little jewel will only increase in value. If you have any questions or want to view the car before bidding you can reach me at 706-736-3972 or email me through ebay. This is an automobile you can drive, you can add it to your collection, or you can show it and add to your trophy collection. I have had folks drive my VW's home after purchase to south Florida, Houston, Texas and Maryland without worry, but I do not recomend taking any antique car on a long haul like that. You are much safer having an auto transport company pick it up or trailering it home. The buyer will be responsible for shipping, but I will assist any way I can. A $500.00 nonrefundable deposit will be due at auction end payable through paypal and the balance to be due 7 days after auction end payable in cash or cashiers check (no personal checks please). I assure that you will not be disappointed in this VW! PLEASE READ MY FEEDBACK AND BID WITH ABSOLUTE CONFIDENCE. Thanks for looking, good luck and happy bidding!!!On Aug-11-10 at 05:18:28 PDT, seller added the following information: I will be going out of town Thursday the12th and will return home the afternoon of Friday the 13th. On Aug-13-10 at 09:44:23 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had several people write and ask me what my reserve is. I don't mind telling you. It's $11,495.00. I told you in my add it was very low. I need to sell this little sweetheart. Thanks for the inquirey.
