1979 Super Sport El camino. I just got this vehicle from a friend a couple of weeks ago and I just don't have the time for it. I have not even tranferd it in to my name . He got it from the original owner ,to give to his son but that's not going to happen. The Elco just had the brakes done and a full tune up by a friend who is not a licensed mechanic and I dont think he got the timing done right. The tranny was giving problems so the same mechanic friend took another 350 tranny wich is what it originally had in it , out of a K5 that had a freshly rebuilt tranny put in it not long after it got rolled and totalled and we put it in the Elco but we just cant get the Elco right. It still runs rough even after the tune up antheres water mixing in with the tranny fluid (Not The Eng.) , causing it to shift late. It also leaks tranny fluid, (I think my buddy over tightend the hose and strpped it) and 1 of the valve covers leaks. The vehicle can drive around locally but I would not atempt to drive it long distance .Over all it needs someone that knows what he's doing to get it right.
