Vehicle Detail
2002 BMW M3 Convertible SMG-2. 99k miles (so banks will still write loans). I bought it certified used with warranty in April of 2008 with 50k miles. Warranty expired in April 2010, but I had the car fully inspected and everything that could be problematic was replaced in March. That included the VANOS System (what would have been a $5k repair) New tires (less than 1k miles) on the M3 CSL Replica wheels (Alufelgen) staggerred wheels with Toyo Proxy tires. Oil just changed, and Rear Trailing Arm Bushings. Car was aligned also. The rear differential was also making some weird noises in 2009 and was serviced under warranty. Otherwise all the mechanical systems are untouched except for all of the scheduled maintanence taking care of religously. This convertible M3 runs and drives perfectly. I had a long commute to work, almost entirely highway, and used the car for some great road trips. The interior leather seats are 9 out of 10. There are some wear lines on the drivers side seat boulster, but otherwise they are perfect. These are the 10 way power adjustable seats with memory (both driver and passenger seat). Both front seats have side airbags. Rear seats are 10 out of 10. This car has the roll over protection built into the rear seat head rests. Comes with DICE Ipod integration system and Navigation System. Steering wheel controls for audio volume up and down, change station (including Ipod forward and back + change playlist). Also has cruise control buttons on steering wheel. Interior plastic trim is 8 out of 10. There are 3 problem areas. The driver and passenger side door handles have some bubbles in the plastic trim (could easily be repainted/replaced). The plastic piece below the e-brake handle also has some scratches from use. The M3 branded floor mats are 10 out of 10. All options are installed except for heated seats. Navigation system + SMG-2 (some 2002's had SMG-1 which isn't as good). SMG-2 has launch mode and burn out mode. But I've used them less than 5 times. The body and paint are 9 out of 10. One of the lenses on the front fog lights is cracked. There are several small chips in the paint. The bad is that the car has been in two minor accidents. One required a new headlight and fender. This was fixed by a local body shop. In the other accident the car was pushed up unto the side walk. This damaged both front wheels and fenders and the steering rack. This was fixed by BMW Bellevue. The sub-contracted the fender replacement to a local body shop. I specifically told them that if the frame was at all damaged to total the car out. When they pulled apart the steering rack the damage was very minor, they told me it probably didn't need to be replaced. But non of the mounting points for the steering rack were effected at all. The wheels were replaced with the CSL wheels. I figure this car will sell on ebay for around $15k. That's ~$250 a month (less if you have decent credit). That's a steal for this car. You won't be disapointed. Canadian buyers, specifically those in Vancouver BC this is a great way to save a ton of money. Getting a car imported into Canada will cost ~$400 in fees, and 7% GST tax. Plus BMW Canada will charge you some money to switch the odometer from Miles to Kilometers. Extras. Car has the factory installed DINAN CAI system and tuning. D763-1600 + D903-34M3 that's $2100 worth of Dinan Parts Installed by BMW for another $300. Dinan claims that it's good for +13lb/ft of torque at 7500 and +18hp at 7500. If you believe Dinan that puts this car at a healthy 351hp (probably a bit of a stretch Dinan) but these are the nicest intake systems available. Completely changes the sound and charecter of this car. I'm also including a hard top mounting kit (just the $300 kit not a hard top I don't have a hard top...). 6 CD Changer. Stainless steel headers (never been installed, but they are specific to this car and they'd be pretty cool). Comes with both keys and valet key (no buttons), both standard keys work with the seat memory (remembers seat position per key).On Aug-05-10 at 14:01:45 PDT, seller added the following information: 2002 BMW M3 Convertible SMG-2. 99k miles (so banks will still write loans).
