Vehicle Detail
Up for world-wide auction, is a beautiful, recently restored 1976 VW Type 2 Westfalia Camper. This vehicle was restored about five years ago and driven cross-country after that. The engine was rebuilt less than 5,000 miles ago, after the cross-country trip. As you can tell from the pictures below, it is a gorgeous car that turns heads everywhere it goes. We will be sad to see her go. This camper was originally yellow, but was repainted during restoration to the OEM green color. It was done the "right way", so it's green all the way (except the engine compartment). In addition, the upholstery was converted from yellow plaid with yellow curtains, to the green plaid and curtains that is original with the green bus. In addition, the camping equipment was upgraded to have a working stove. This has been converted to regular propane tank so that you can drive through tunnels, instead of the LP gas tank. Feel free to contact me with any questions. Rebuilt engine less than 5,000 miles ago - sounds and runs extremely well. No oil dripping. 99% rust free - very small amounts of rust in the usual spots (battery tray and below the passenger door), but very solid otherwise.Tires are very good (80-90%)Professionally gel-coated pop-topAll pop-top seals are replaces Brakes are goodShocks were replaced during restoration and are still greatBrand new seat upholstery in the front, including the horsehairThe passenger seat is a swivel chair, which means that it can be turned around 180 degrees for use when camping. New carpet throughout High-quality pop-top canvas in excellent condition Alpine CD playerComes with original mosquito net and front privacy curtains Ready to go camping! What you should also know: This vehicle was originally yellow, which you can see in the pictures here and there. The paint job is GREAT, and they really stripped down the vehicle when it was painted, but underneath and in the engine compartment you can still spot the original yellow.Actual mileage is unknown, which doesn't really matter on a restored vehicle like this. The dashboard mounts are missing. I just haven't gotten install them - easy to find at a junk yard. The gas gauge is a bit temperamental. It works on and off, but the best bet is to just count the miles from last refueling. The horn does not work and the switch to the sink water pump in the camping unit is broken. The pump works, just not the switch - should be an easy fix). The picnic basket is not included (not original VW and given to us as a gift, just placed there to get you into the camping spirit!) The vehicle looks beautiful, but is not in showroom condition. The restoration was very well done, the bus is very shiny and a head turner, but it was not a $25,000 restoration. Although I have done my best to accurately describe the vehicle through words, pictures and video, I would recommend that you or a designated mechanic inspect the vehicle before committing to purchasing it through bidding. This vehicle is sold as-is with no warranty. You can call me at 617-319-5099 to schedule a good time and/or ask me any questions (please don't contact me about ending the auction early). I am happy to arrange domestic/international shipping, or pick you up from Logan airport in Boston if you want too drive it home. If you recently signed up for eBay and have zero feedback, please contact me via phone before bidding. I need to verify that you are a serious bidder. If you don't, I will have to cancel your bid until we talk.
