Spent the past 3years rebuilding an FJ60 iron pig (305K). Started with a complete motor rebuild outsourced to a machine shop which included crank, cam, pistons and everything else ($3.1K). Followed buying most everything available online to replace the electronics (battery, alternator, voltage regulator, distributor rebuilt and more). I replaced all rubber, had the front seals rebuilt in Fredericksburg, VA and left the drive train alone. The radiator was re-cored and replaced belts, hoses and other small parts. The carburetor is Weber and the manifolds have been replaced. It has a JimC idler pulley. Replaced the headlights with TLC halogen lamps and used AUS Alezza lensfor the rears (complete with chrome lens guards). The underside was coated with POR-15: Installed an Aussie kit to fabricate fender well splash guards. Removed the carpet and underlay, replaced them with aluminized soundproofing and a carpet kit. The hydraulic jack is original and I bought a metric tire tool kit. The headliner and the arm rests were vinyl sprayed. The chrome emblems were replaced. I built wooden drawers with top covers that hide a complete set of tools in the rear (essential tools come with the sale). Painted the body work with primer and then applied vinyl camo-deer hunter panels. The seats are sheepskin and the carpets are new (with insert mats). The radio plays. These vehicles require care and feeding but always deliver – During the great snowstorm of 2010 I pulled a railroad snowplow out of a ditch with this vehicle – it goes without saying it is strong.
