Vehicle Detail
RARE MILANO MAROON WITH MAROON INTERIOR L-79 ROADSTER 1965. The only year this color combination was available. Equipped with the legendary high-horsepower small-block powerplant, this 350hp L-79 has a matching-number engine, 4-speed M-21 transmision and 3.55 ratio differential. Considered to be the absolute best horsepower/differential combo for both around-town and freeway cruising. Relatively low rpms and decent gas mileage. Not that anyone cared when petrol was 28 cents per gallon. BODY-OFF RESTORED. Original trim tag documents the rare color combo of this frame-off restoration that was completed just this year and has just a few "test" miles since. Goldline tires, sidepipes, white soft top, restored instrument panel and clock. All new interior. Correct intake, fuel line and filter, radiator, distributor. New clutch, pressure plate, re-surfaced flywheel, brakes, lines, hoses and everything else associated with a body-off restoration. Rear spring disassembled and fresh rubbe leaf linersr between leaves, etc. All bonding strips are intact and quarters appear original to car. Body is very solid and features all new body mounts and shims. Where paint was checked or blemished, it was stripped to bare fiberglass to reveal nice press-molded panels. ZERO rust on the chassis and underside. Yes, it has sidepipes and 2.5-inch exhaust pipes that create plenty of attention when fired up. Wake up the neighbors on a Saturday morning to the rip-snorting roar of a high-revving L-79 Chevy V8 that features more horsepower than its 327 cubic inches. Re-chromed bumpers, new taillights and an expensive ($8,000) paint job. New $600 '65 grille. Bushings in the rear suspension are all new, and there are stainless trailing arm shims. Correct air cleaner, ignition shielding. New fuel pump, spark plug wiring, cap and rotor. New fan clutch, correct new Gm hoses. Distributor is #1111087, the radiator is #3155316 and alternator is #1100628. Differential is date-coded L 27 4 with a 3 am 1 1 65 axle ratio. The M-21 close-ratio trans features an aftermarket shifter handle that looks just like an original reverse lockout version--and shifts great! Shocks are new and painted correct gray. Hubcaps are oriiginal and professionally buffed to high luster. The half-shafts and driveshift all have new high-performance U-joints. Entire dsiassembled frame/chassis was painted semi-gloss black to NCRS specs. Chrome vent window frames are in excellent condtion. The engine block casting is #3782870 and the date code is #A 5 5. Pad stamp is 5107629 F0107HT. Carburetor was just recently rebuilt. Car was purchased more than two years ago when prices had peaked, and a ton of money spent since finishing the rare color-combo car. The owner is "buried" and prepared to take a hefty loss. His loss, your gain. Any questions, please contact the owner at (714) 848-9255 regarding this frame-off restored mid-year roadster.
