Up for Auction No Reserve 1972 Karmann Super Beetle Convertible (Project Car) This "old friend" has been in my family for over 25 years. It was originally purchased in Arizona where this classic bug, spent many years as a tow vehicle behind our motorhome. We then moved to California where I drove this cutie daily, to and from work. In 2008 I moved to Washington to retire. Upon retiring, my thoughts were always to restore this car to showroom condition, but those aspirations have gone stale. With so few "convertible" days in the Northwest, I would like to sell this "bug" so I can get a hardtop which is more practical for the area in which I now live. Being a car "fancier" I know the potential for this vehicle. It is in remarkable, restoratable, condition. It has never seen the snow or been driven on salt roads and has been garaged for most of its' years. When you look at the photographs you can see nothing is hidden. All flaws are out in the open. This vehicle has never been wrecked or even in a fender bender. It is a very "straight" car. It's been a few years since starting the engine, but it does run and is drivable. The mileage is not accurate, but I can tell you the engine was rebuilt, I believe around 1995, or there abouts, and has less than 8,000 miles on it. The engine view-stock oil cooler filter has been removed, but is included. The convertible top is all original horsehair and does have some rot as shown in the photographs. There is a box of miscellaneous, original Volkswagen parts which include, window rubber, wind wing interior hardware, additional headlight lens, heater vent covers, after market oil pressure gauge, and ORIGINAL VEHICLE OWNERS MANUAL! You "purest" of project cars, will appreciate that the original passenger side assist bar is still there. Hope to find a great new home for this old friend. Thanks for looking.
