Up for auction is my 1988 BMW, 187,000 miles on body and drive train, engine has had top end rebuilt with less than 2,000 miles. Transmission is good, great driver, only known defect is it needs tie rod bushing. Great car, fun to drive would be great starter car for a young person to drive daily or to drive to work. Gets about 35 mpg on highway and 27 around town. Depending on your need this car could be driven just as is with the exception of you really should repair tie rod. The only reason I am selling is I just don't need it. I have owned the car since 05 and as I said the engine has been rebuilt on the top end and inspected the pistons and rod bearings as well, does not burn any oil and transmission shifts great. It is currently licensed and is ready to drive anywhere. Now keep in mind it is a 1988 besides the pictures I will try to tell you what it might need: the clear coat on the top is rough, the dash has some cracks, occasionally when it rains the water accumulates under the wind screed and the sun roof leaks, (new seal is less than 50.00 dollars), sunroof works great, power windows work but occasionally the driver window is a little slow I think it has a bad ground which is typical of BMW's often the tail lights loose their ground and have to be cleaned. I neglected to get the hood down one time and it flew up and damaged it pretty bad I straighted it well enough to close but should have new one (available on ebay for 159.00 aftermarket), the engine lights on the dash are on and need to be reset but BMW dealer wants 200.00 there is a reset tool on ebay as well for around 129.00. I have tried to picture most defects, there is a tear in the driver seat which I am sure could be repaired , did not have radio when I bought it and I have an aftermarket in the dash which works but did not install permently because I was looking for original. I did not know what to ask for so researched previous sales on ebay the least of which was one that did not run and had been wrecked for 790.00 and one which appeared to be mint for 7,500.00. Therefor my starting price is at the least amount even though this one is much better than that, my thought is it is somewhere in between but who knows. Guess I will when auction is over.
