1979 HONDA XL 185s . Update July 25th have relisted this ,I rode it around town today looking at the yard sales and going to Mcdonalds to get a Coca-cola . It ran excellent smooth and quiet and care free. It will just sit there and Idle purring quietly like a contented kitten.The more I ride it the more I like it.It now has 3683.4 miles on it after today.Very light and manueverable. The reserve is only $600 so if I can't get that, I guess I'll just drain the gas and mothball it till my other bikes wear out. Old text below. Nice running little bike. from a collection of five bikes I picked up late last summer. Low Miles ,only 3668 it was last registered in 1986 and kept in a warm and clean garage till now. I've put only 200 miles on it my self and recently used it going all the way to the top of Scout Mountain on all the winding dirt roads and back to town and it did'nt miss a beat. Here are the brand new parts that I have installed. New Stock Battery (last year) 6 volt, New Front Cheng Shin Tire 3.00 X 21 in. 4ply and new tube New rear Kenda 4.00 X 18 and new tube Tires installed aprox 80 miles ago New Kensun brand 428 rear chain 120 link installed last night New super trapp US forestry approved spark arrestor high performance muffler. presently with 12 removeable baffles.I installed it last night about 8 pm and tried it out for a half hour.. It makes bike idle very nicely and seems to add a little more performance , runs smoother and faster. Brand New carburetor and Air filter and fuel filter and fuel line and Fuel cap vent hose. For the life of me ,I could not get the original Kehin to Idle except raggedly and blowing black smoke (Ive rebuilt and tuned hundreds of carbs) finally I just ordered a brand new chinese replacement and it works perfectly! installed about a month ago. The Turn signals; some times they work some times they dont .It depends on their mood, the weather and the tightness of the rear screws the right ones work better than the left ones.Had them all working breifly about an hour ago, then the rears quit unless I squeezed their housings in the palm of my hands.July 25 note : the rears work when you rap them with your knuckles and squeeze em. the fronts seem to be working just fine The high beam and low beam works perfectly as does the rear tailight /stop light. The neutral indicator light does not come on maybe needs a new bulb. some one said the right side of the handle bars looks slightly bent but I cant tell. Bike is not brand new and has numerous little scuffs and scratches as you would expect from a bike this age,but over all its nice and presentable looking. I'd say its ready for many many miles of enjoyable riding this summer ,It feels just right; not too slow not too fast just the right gearing and four stroke torque for doing every task in a business like manner.The perfect machine to take on your RV adventure.
