1996 Volkswagon Passat TDI Turbo Diesel New head valves, seals, lifters, head gasket, bolts, and all seals. New Timing belt (about 5000 miles ago). Gets 40-45 mpg, runs pretty good, tires still have plenty of tread for another year or so of average driving. I have installed slotted and drilled rotors on all of the wheels with new pads about a 2 years ago. Right side front tire goes soft in a few days. Pretty sure the rim needs to be resealed or the valve stem is leaking very slowly. The catalytic convertor is not on the vehicle, but I do have it here for the buyer. The glow plugs are on a manual switch because the temperature switch was not working very well. It works much better this way. Of course the engine light and the glow plug light have been blinking for a couple of years now, never payed much attention to them anyway. If you are the type to have your mechanic look at a car for you because you are not knowlegeable enough, then this car is probably not for you. Driver’s side window has trouble going up and down. Rear driver’s side window does not work (might have the parts). Front passenger side window works only in conjunction with rear passenger window. Body in poor condition. Interior leaves much to be desired. The drivers front and passenger doors are difficult to open from outside (I’ll show you a trick). Seems to get some engine compartment fumes in cab once in a while but I think it’s the holes in the door. The trunk can only be opened from the switch inside, the outside switch is broken. I can share some good places to get most of the parts for this vehicle very reasonably. Worth the investment, will pay for itself with fuel savings (3 yr). Ideal for conversion to run on grease. Not inspected currently. Inspection was up in January. E-brake works fine, moonroof works fine, lights work, slotted and drilled rotors with new pads at time of replacement (about 5000 miles) Sometimes loses power like the turbo waste gate is open all the time (I thinks it’s the computer or a sensor problem). I will provide the name of the place to the buyer for reasonably priced timing belt kit with the tools among other parts for this deisel. The car runs good, as I drove it back and forth to school (15 miles one way) every day before I stopped driving it about when the inspection ran out. The oil and filter has been changed about every 5-7k miles by myself. I dont do any heavy driving. I am moving and will not be able to take it with me, though I wish I could. I would like to keep it and run on WVO, amoung other things. Anyways, great car. There is a discrepency in the mileage also, the instrument panel was replaced by the dealer at about 83,000 miles so the car actually has about 186,000 miles on it. I have documentation for this but as before, this is being sold "as is". I do have the car for sale locally, but I will probably tell them to go to ebay anyway. I beleive in ebays system and policies and would like to stick to their system which seems to protect both the seller and the buyer as equally as possible, so good luck.
