This is a 1981 toyota pickup with the diesel (L) engine. I will start with the bad stuff. Rust-mainly on the floorboards,alot of surface rust. As you can see the drivers side seat is bad.The heater core is good, but it is disconnected at the hoses, the valve that controls the heater core locked up so i bypassed it, when i got this truck it had been setting in the woods for 15 years. It had struck a tree in the front passenger side. The radiator and grill were missing, So i put this thing together with alot of creativity. The radiator is out of a VW wagon and did not have enough volume to cool the engine so I disconnected the heater core and ran that water through a trans cooler to get the volume i needed. You can see in the pic of the radiator hose on top.And the accelerator cable is a pull cord like you put on a chain saw or mower.no radio. The windows go up and down but need some force to do so.The front window is crack along the bottom and up the passenger side (we don't have inspections here, but you may need to replace).The reason I am selling---I found oil in the radiator,Probably just a head gasket but I am not a mechanic,I can rig stuff but this is to big for me and I can't find anyone to fix it.The cooling fan is 12 volt and is on a switch in the dash. The wiring to the headlights was burnt into a ball, so there are 2 switches in the glovebox 1 for low beam and both on for high beam.It vibrates at 70mph but I belive it to be a tire out of balance. The headlight peices of the grill are out of a 80's toyota. and the dash lights dont work.The spare tire has a broken belt but you can drive about 50mph before it vibrates (still holds air).Sided of truck bed cut out for diesel tank,also the diesel tank has a drain valve that goes through a nasty hole in the floor of the bed.The drivers side mirror is reflective plastic not a real mirror. Dash is in bad shape. Now for the good--The truck starts and runs great (sounds like a sewing machine). I have replaced-- front brake pads, tie rod ends, glow plugs, water pump and the timing belt looked good at that time.The alternator belt is 2 years old. Replaced all u joints and carrier bearing. The inner part of the grill is 2years old. All brakes and signal lights work. I was getting around 28-32mpg. The tires have alot of tread on them only 1 year old.Tranny and clutch both work great. Sliding back glass works.Smokes a little when you start it but stops quickly.I have replaced oil and filters as necessary.Diesel tank in bed holds 34 gallons.I have all the parts that I have took off, original fan, AC condensor ect. you can see then in the bed of the truck pic. This truck had only one oner before me and like i said it had been setting for 15 years,I cant say how many miles are on it, because i don't know for sure. I had been driving this truck every day for the past 2 years and I fixed problems as they arose but I am not ready to tear into the motor. If you are the winning bidder,on a day that I chose, I will haul the truck 150 miles at no charge, but after that it will cost you $2.00 a mile. But this is completly optional. I am sure we can work something out. I am not setting my reserve price very high, because i want to sell.
