Vehicle Detail
If your looking for an eye-catching, great sounding, soon to be classic car this is it. I purchased this car about 13 months ago as a "fun car" and to use as a daily driver in the warmer months. The first thing I did after purchasing this car was go over it mechanically front to back. I replaced anything that looked slightly warn or I felt I wouldn't be comfortable with driving on a long trip. This car is beautiful and ready to go, I would not be afraid to drive this car from Illinois to Alaska and back right now. The only reason I'm selling car is because it deserves to be driven more then I'm using it. I can't stand to see it setting in the garage not being enjoyed. Just a little back ground on the car, when I purchased the car it was a 10-foot car, it looked great from 10'. Now it's a 2-inch car it looks GREAT from as close as you want to get. I ran a car fax on it before purchasing it and found it had been in 2 "minor incidents" is how it was listed, the two minor incidents were one animal strike, and one side scrape incident, both recorded as NO major damage or core structural damage, both listed on carfax as minor. I have put around 6000 miles on this car since buying it, I have changed the oil three times, once every 2000 miles, this car uses no oil and can sit for weeks and when started blows no smoke or funning smelling exhaust. It starts on exactly the same revs ever time, no funny sounds, smells, squeaks, etc. The AC in this car will freeze you out, and the heater will cook you out, there is nothing in this car to my knowledge that does not work as it did when brand new. You will find no puddles of any fluid of any kind under this car unless you have the AC running, which works GREAT. Please keep in mind that I have made several changes to this car but they are all "Bolt on" and can be easily removed if you want a to return to factory, I also have all the factory parts that I removed, they are boxed up and will go with the car. I'm very particular about keeping the car stock looking (not sounding though, it sounds GREAT). What I do not have: factory exhaust, factory stereo, factory rims/tires, these items have been replaced and I do not have the originals to go with the car. The interior of the car is in awesome shape, I've seen two week old cars with more wear and misuse. This car feels as good going down the road at 55 as it does at 100mph no funny shimmy or shakes. This car has had every recall done by Ford including the HP issue, this car puts out the 320hp from the factory plus a bit more. I've not had it dynoed but with the high-flow cats, high flow exhaust, and cold air intake it should be 10% plus more from what I've read. The car runs perfectly and the seat-of-the pant's feel is awesome. I know I have missed many things but have done my best to describe this car, ask question if you have any. Like any used car this is sold as is, I am not a dealer and there is no warranty, but I can't imagine anything drastic happening with this car for a long time, I've read from several people with this exact car who have 160,000 plus miles on theirs and have had zero problems. I have two complete sets of keys include the wireless door and trunk opener for the car. I will accept payment at time of pickup, check, money order, cash, bank check, if a personal check it must clear before I allow car to leave. I do not want to pay paypal in this instance and loose more then I already will. Flaws: I do my very best to deal in honesty and integrity and do not attempt to hide anything from anyone, I am not a dealer just a guy with too much stuff. You can see by my ratings I don't buy and sell stuff for a living and I deal in honesty. Known flaws with this car: First off it is 11 years old and no matter how well treated there are something you can't foresee. 1) Small cracks in the leather in the drivers seat but only in one section, you can see it in the pictures, I took it to a body shop and they can perfectly match and replace that small piece for $168. Other than that small area the seats look great. 2) One small spot on the back seat, it may be able to be washed or buffed out, but it's so small I'm not messing with it. 3) A crack in the plastic near one of the windshield wipers, again very simple to fix, I just haven't found the need to do so and it's not very noticable, I believe they call this part the "Wiper Cowl" and to completely replace the part is under $200. This is nothing that needs painted it's just a long black plastic piece. Here is a list of what I've done since purchasing the car. 1) New exhaust from the manifold back, it has NEW high flow catalytic converters purchased from "American Muscle" http://www.american muscle.com/ web site these guys sell nothing but mustang parts and are top notch no junk here. Around $300 each. These Cats are listed as legal in 49 or 50 states some places in CA may be restricted. 2) New Magnaflow exhaust from the catalytic converters all the way back: 4.6L V-8, Supercharged, Cobra W/IRS, Dual Exhaust, 2.5" Tubing, Rear Exit, 3.5" Tips This is the stainless steal setup with changeable mufflers you can change just the muffler if you wish to make a little louder or make a little quite, as it is now it sounds AWESOME, you have to hear this car to understand how good it sounds, when this car is driving by you will not be sure if it has 300 HP or 600 HP but you know it's a big V8 ready to go. $800 setup not including installation. 3) When I purchased the car I had the following done, New top of the line spark plugs, $9.00 each, replace one of the rear half shafts on the independent rear end because one of the CV boots had a small hole in it, I did not just replace the boot, I replaced the entire shaft, from rear differential to wheel $200.00 parts only. It had a few drops of power steering fluid under it so I replace the entire Rack and Pinion mechanism. I had the manual transmission fluid changed with high end synthetic. New fuel Filter installed. All wheel bearings check and in great shape. 4) The car squeaked at startup so I replaced all the idler pullies, it still squeaked so I bought a new high end Fidanze Clutch (Which I still have, never used) with bearings, plates, the etire kit., the problem ended up being the serpentine belt, so problem fixed and I have a new never used clutch I will include with car, again it don't need it but neither do I. 5) I installed a high-end Steeda Tri-Ax shifter $200, again not needed but it feels great, I have the original shifter boxed up and it can be reinstalled in minutes. 6) Cold-Air intake C&L $360.00, I went with the C&L becasue it looks nice and it allowed me to put the strut brace back on with minimal modificatins needed. The previous owner of this car also had the undercarrage frame stiffeners put on it. This is a very common thing to do with convertables and in NO WAY affects the car's drivabilty, fixability or reliability, you would never even know they have been added if you didn't see the car on a lift and know exaclty what to look for. They were professionally installed and only add to the value of this car. I'm guessing this would cost $600-plus to have done. 7) Chin spoler, it just makes the car look nice, kind-of dresses the front up a bit. $120 8) New head-light covers, top of the line, stock look and crystal clear, no foggy look. $150 each 9) New ceramic brake pads and sloted rotors all the way around they look great and perform great, the car still had the orinal factory brake pads and rotors on it, and they still had thousands of miles left on them, they did not need replaced I just replaced them becasue the slotted type don't rust and look great thrugh the 5 spoke rims. $800 parts only. The cars stopping ability was very good before this change now it's incredible, what a difference. 10) Brand new convertable top, $1000, the top works flawlessly, and was completely replaced except for the portion cantain the "real glass" rear window, that small piece is in good shape and has factory defrost again it works perfectly. 11) I purchase four new tires for the car and found the fronts to be in very good condition so I just rotated the fronts to the rear and put two new matching tires on the front, so I have two brand new never mounted tires for the car, the two in front have approximately 2000 miles on them and look like new. The two I rotated to the rear I do not know how many miles but again I have two BRAND NEW never mounted VR (169mph) matching tires ready to go on, so bacially you have 4 new high performance tires, they are factory speed rated and Size. 12) The sun visors on the car were sun faded (it's a convertable remember) so I replaced them, both of them, they are exact factory mathes, they have the working lights on them and even have the air-bag warnings and convertable top instructions on them, exactly as it did off the show-room floor. $115 each 13) After Market ...... Stereo, with both USB and SD card slots, take your recorded music and slide in either a USB drive or an SD card (that's what I use because it's hidden behind the faceplate) I do not know if there is a limit or not I have an 8-GB SD card in it with around 200 songs on it and it works flawlessly. This is one factory part that I know of that I do not have, I do not have the orinal factory stereo, I don't know why you'd want it and I'm sure one could be had for next the nothing if you want everything back to factory. 14) Front seat covers, I have put on a set of front seat covers not becaseu the seats look bad but so they don't get so hot from the sun, they are comfortable and simple to take off if you'd like. Again some minor cracking on one seat other than that they look very good. 15) Installed the stainless bullet style gas, brake, clutch, and foot rest peddle, they look nice. Also have a complete set of cobra floor mats front and back. 16) And now best of all, I just had this car completely repainted (three months and 200miles ago), I was just going to have a few spots touched up (rock chips and a door ding) but the person doing the work talked me into a completely new paint job and it looks incredable. This car was stripped, sealed, primed, painted, and resealed in PPG's best quality paint in the factory color that can be perfectly matched at any time no custome color just high quality factory matching paint. The individual who did the work for me has worked for PPG and in the auto body restoration industry for over 20 years. When asked if this paint quality is better then factory his answer was simple "ohh yah". You can litterally see yourself in the car finish, the finsh on this car looks so deep and rich it appears you can reach into the finish. Any imerfections were stripped down to bare metal and 100% fixed properyly, there is no weled in sheet metal, heavy bondo work (really no bondo at all), etc on this car, if taken car of this car will have a better then new finish indefinalty, there was no under paint rust, or hidden surprises when the car was refinshed. Value well over $4000. Thanks for looking and good luck, reserve will be set well under KBB value of car in this condition. On Jul-27-10 at 09:46:51 PDT, seller added the following information: A few more things about the car, that I forgot to put in. After having the steering rack-and-pinion replaced I had a computerized 4 wheel alignment done on the car it tracks perfectly at any speed. Installed a new high-end AC-Delco 60 month battery, the care was still using the original battery, and it would still start the car just fine but it was getting weak. I feel that says something about the mechanical condition of the car still running fine on a 10+ year-old battery. The brake rotors and pads were also original and had allot of use remaining, again a good sign showing no abuse. I have a brand new black vinal convertible boot that covers the top when the top is down, I should have had it on during the pictures. It is a semi-rigid boot but trifold to fit in the trunk and does not take all the trunk space. I can easily fit my large set of golf-clubs in the trunk along with a 12pk cooler with room to spare.
