Vehicle Detail

I purchased this 1977 Triumph motorcycle in May 2008 at a vintage motorcycle collectors estate sale in Oregon. I know very little about the bike's past before the collector. He had it for about 15-17 years, and called it the Black Widow. He painted the bike black in the late 90's. I purchased the bike intending to turn it into a chopper, but after shipping it to Tennessee, getting it roadworthy and cleaned it up, I realized it was a pretty special bike. It's a totally unrestored, numbers matching, 1977 Bonneville 750 five speed with left-side American shift, and 11,999.8 original miles on it since new. It has hydraulic disk brakes front and rear, dual heavy duty aftermarket chrome mirrors, and Triumph stock turn signals for safety. Motorcycle does not have electric start - it is kick-start only. It is a "gentleman's" restoration candidate, meaning all it needs to be a complete stock motorcycle - ready for a low-cost reconditioning - is twin megaphone exhausts and a standard twin seat. The tank and fenders are original to the motorcycle - just custom painted black. Currently the motorcycle has a 2-into-1 high performance exhaust system ( we think it's by S&S) and a deluxe Corbin cafe racer/touring seat. The black paintwork on the tank and fenders is very high quality with a few minor surface buff and scuff marks, and in fact if you look at the left side picture you can see a cloud floating by in the reflection of the tank. The original Dunlop chrome rims are in very good condition with minor pitting expected after 33 years. Tank badges have very minor pin point pitting. Tires are original to bike, have ~70% rubber with minor age cracking on sides and should probably be replace after another 5,000 miles. Don't let them rot - wear them out. Motorcycle has zero miles on it since full service, is freshly detailed, and comes with all gaskets for next oil and crankcase changes, and a spare new set of washable metal-mesh air cleaners. Engine starts very easily. Had been sitting for eight months and started on second kick. This motorcycle is well suited to several riding styles. Look at the bike's profile. One minute it has the look of a flat track racer, the next it looks like a cafe racer, or a bobber or a cruiser. It's been called all of those by people that have seen it, and were trying to figure out how to describe it best. It's truly a unique bike. It rides extremely well cruising at highway speeds due to the low center of gravity afforded by the Corbin seat. It's also extremely fun to ride laid out over the tank, cafe racing style. Open it up on the highway, just to the second part of the throttle, and you'll know what racing motorcycles really feels like. The motorcycle is offered, as is, where is. There is no return. I encourage all prospective buyers to come to Tennessee to view the bike before bidding. Please email me with any questions you may have, or if you would like to see the bike. No rides. You ride it when you've bought it. Include you phone number with any correspondences. The winning bidder will deposit $500 by PayPal within 48 hours of notification, with the balance payable in cash if picking bike up in person, or by Personal Check, Bank Check or Bank Wire Transfer if shipping motorcycle, within seven days of end of auction. All shipping costs and arrangements are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Motorcycle will be released for shipping only after full payment is confirmed as being in my accounts, or I have cash in hand for the balance due to close. I will help with shipping where possible, such as hauling to Knoxville, TN for freight forwarding if needed. Most national bike haulers have picked up and delivered at my location. Reserve is set at low percentage of By-it-Now price. After the reserve has been met, it's a proverbial "iron horse race". Good luck bidding! I know the bike will give you years of enjoyment after you've won! Tom Triumph
