Vehicle Detail
How many times have you said, “I had one of those and I should’ve kept it?” Well, if you’re a Camaro lover, this first-year 1985 Camaro IROC-Z is your second chance. How does one-year-only Silver metallic paint grab you? What about a giant list of options? How about only 6015 miles? That’s right, six-thousand and fifteen miles. Not a misprint. This is a virtually new, highly-optioned and very rare Silver over Carmine Red 1985 IROC-Z. Let’s face it, the survival rate on these cars isn’t great. They were fast, fun and inexpensive when they were new, and a lot of them eventually found their way into inexperienced hands where big horsepower and a young driver conspired to send them to the big scrap yard in the sky before their time. Maybe you were that young driver. Maybe your dad had one and broke your heart when he traded it in on a minivan. Maybe you never quite got over your love affair with an IROC-Z you used to own and reluctantly sold. Or maybe you just always wanted one but couldn’t afford them when they were new. So imagine it’s 1985 again, and the new IROC-Z is the hottest ride on the road. Now’s your chance to relive the dream. Look at the options on this car: AU3 Power Lock System A01 Tinted Glass A31 Power Windows A90 Power Hatch Release B34 Front Floor Carpet Floor Mats B35 Rear Floor Carpet Floor Mats B4Z IROC-Z Performance Package B91 Black Door Edge Guards CC1 Removable Glass Roof Panels CD4 Intermittent Windshield Wiper System C60 Air Conditioning DK6 Interior Roof Console G80 Limited Slip Differential J65 Power Front and Rear Brakes LG4 5.0 Liter 4-BBL V8 Engine MX0 Automatic Trans with Overdrive N33 Comfortilt Steering Wheel TR9 Auxiliary Lighting UA1 Heavy Duty Battery U75 Power Antenna YE3 Electronic Tuned AM/FM Stereo Radio with Cassette and Clock 12L Silver Paint 72R Carmine Red Vinyl Bucket Seats This car is in virtually flawless condition—the only parts that aren’t factory original are the tires and battery. The tires, which are brand-new 245/50/16 BFGoodrich radials that still have mold lines on the tread. There’s no road rash on the chin spoiler, no scuffs on the rocker panels, and no dirty shoe marks on the floor mats. This car has received extraordinary TLC over the past 25 years, At the famous Solon Commons Tuesday Night Cruise (the largest weeknight cruise in the country), this car won Best Stock Vehicle during Camaro Night. It really is that nice. This car comes complete with all its paperwork, including the original order sheet, window sticker, build sheet, owner’s manual, dealer information packages, sales materials, a 1985 Chevrolet color chip book, It would be like buying a new car in 1985. The LG4 5.0 liter V8 is topped by a 4-barrel carburetor, which makes great power and torque without the complexity of the early throttle body fuel injection systems. It’s backed by an indestructible 700-R4 automatic overdrive transmission and an optional limited-slip differential, making one of the most durable powertrains GM has ever built. The upgraded IROC suspension package was in addition to the already potent Z28 package, and included stiffer springs, shocks and sway bars which gave the IROC-Z handling to match its potent straight-line acceleration. In fact, it was selected as Car and Driver Magazine’s best handling car in May of 1985. The interior is just as it was in 1985, and everything works. Dig the overhead console with manual counters for time and distance. The original jack and spare have never been out of the trunk. The doors and deck lid close with authority, with none of the rattling and banging common to high-mileage cars that have been abused. Underhood, it is at least as sanitary as it was the moment it rolled off the assembly line, thanks to years of meticulous care and maintenance. The undercarriage sports the original undercoating, and where it’s not undercoated, it is clean and detailed. This has been a cherished car. Now it’s your turn. These cars are considered as smart investments, especially since the 25th Anniversary of the IROC-Z is this year (2010). Recent trends show the prices of the nicest examples continue to go up, and those that will provide the biggest return are the low-mile, highly-optioned cars with no stories. Built in the first year of IROC-Z production, combined with a rare, 1-year-only color combination, full documentation, and an immaculate presentation, this is a very strong investment candidate. Or, if you simply wanted one of these cars when they were new but could not afford one, this is the perfect car to own and enjoy while racking up limited miles over a long period of time. Either way, this is a significant car, and will be a must for any serious Camaro collector down the road. This is doubtlessly one of the best in existence. Don't hesitate to email for additional information or pictures. I bought this car from best of show automotive in Oct of 2009. Tough Economic Times are forcing me to sell. The car has not changed one bit other than the 230 miles that I have put on it driving to Local Cruise In's and Car Shows.
