Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my matching numbers L79 convertible Chevelle. This is a true L79 equipped 327/350 Horse Power, 4 speed manual and, 12 bolt posi car and comes with the matching numbers motor and transmission. This is a running and driving car. I have driven it around town a bit but, do not recommend it for highway driving. This car needs restoration. A little over 6,000 L79 Chevelles were made in 1965 and most were coupes. Originally a beautiful color combo of Tahitian Turqouise exterior, white convertible top and turqouise interior. This car deserves to go to someone who will restore her to original condition. Here is a break down by section of the car: Engine- Right now the original matching numbers block, heads, air cleaner, valve covers, carb. and pulleys are removed from the car and I have them stored in my garage for safe keeping. The VIN and EC code are still visible on the block. They will come with the car. The current motor in the car is a 1966 Chevelle 327. The original L79 intake, thermostat, and coil bracket are installed on that motor. The car runs fine and was being driven daily by the previous owner. Transmission- Once again the original numbers matching 4 speed manual transmission has been removed and is stored in my garage. The VIN is still visible on the transmission. The current 4 speed manual transmission is also from a 1966 chevelle and has a new clutch. It goes in and out of gear great and works very smoothly. Differential- The original 12 bolt posi is still in the car and works good. Floors and Trunk- The original floors are still in the car and in great shape. They have never had rust or been patched. The nicest original floors I have seen in a convertible. The trunk floor does have some rust on the top left corner of the pan. It is about a 1x6 inch strip of rust and can be seen in the pictures. Frame and suspension- Once again a very hard to find rust free convertible frame. This car has no rust on the frame and it has never been in an accident. The suspension needs to be rebuilt and has an after market rear sway bar. Convertible top frame- No rust on the top frame as can be seen in the pictures and it is in very nice shape. It is missing the convertible top hooks. I have s hooks temporarly installed so that I can latch the top. Interior- The interior is in decent shape. It appears to have new carpet and the seats were redone to original recently. The car still has it's factory tach, dash mount clock and steering wheel. The door panels and dash bezel need work. Wheels and Tires- The wheels look to be old 14 inch ARE wheels. Tires are old but, you can still drive on them. Body- The body is in fair shape. It has been driven daily all it's life up until last month when I bought it. It has dings and some filler. The left rear quarter was replaced in 1988. All the wheel houses and jambs are rust free and solid as well as around the windows. The jambs still have the original tahitian turqouise paint in them. A very rare color for 1965. Glass and Chrome-The glass is all there and in good shape. All the glass rolls up and down good except the left rear window needs assistance rolling up. I believe I have all the chrome including the side moldings except for the trim around the head light bezels. The car will only be listed once and sold to the highest bidder. I do not like to restore cars to original so, this is not the car for me. If you have any questions feel free to call me at (562)762-9617 and ask for Oliver.
