Vehicle Detail

Since many of you will be bidding on this based on my opinion of the vehicle and on my credibility I would like to tell you a few things about me. I have bought several cars through Ebay and I have only had one bad experience and that was my first one. The ad had very little detail and I didn't ask any questions. Since then I buy only when I know for sure what I am getting and I have been very happy with the other purchases. I have sold several vehicles through ebay and have received great feedback. I did however receive negative feedback on a 26 year old RV that when driven back home by the new owners had a faulty voltage regulator and a water pump that broke in the middle of their 1200 mile trip home. The buyer stated on their feedback that it should be looked at by a third party and that I have minimal mechanical knowledge. I cannot tell the future and could not know those items would break after several hundred miles of driving. I still maintain my credibility and would suggest anyone get a third party check on a vehicle. I had up to this point a 100 percent feedback and now it is no longer. I have that one negative feedback but since I have not sold much lately it averages the last 12 months I believe. So it looks bad but, truly it is not. Please if you do not feel comfortable bidding then do not bid or get someone else to view it for you. I list a ton of detail so that you know exactly what you are getting and you can feel comfortable about the purchase. I have even had independent people look at the vehicles for the purchaser and those are usually the people who end up winning the bid because they have told me it was exactly as described. If I don't mention a detail that you would like to know about then please ask me and I will get the info to you. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION. There is no Buy it Now. I started this auction very low, much lower then what it is worth. I do this because I am confident it will get to a respectable selling price. I also don’t find it much fun bidding on something that has a reserve and not knowing if the vehicle will actually sell. So now everyone knows this car will sell to whoever bids the highest. Much more fun this way and I think it caters to the serious buyers. Hello. What you are bidding on is a 1953 International Harvester. I purchased this vehicle with the plans to fix it up. I wanted an old International that I could put a newer motor and tranny in that would be easy to drive. So I bought this because it did not have a motor or tranny and therefor would not be ruining a original restorable truck by pulling an original motor. So if you are looking for a cool old IH that you could drop a V8 into this would be perfect. This is a very very solid truck. There are no dents larger then what might be considered a ding. So very minor imperfections. The metal is still very thick and is not rusted through. This would be very easy to paint as it needs just some smoothing out prior to a paint job. Again, there is no motor or tranny. This is a long box version of the truck. The cab of the truck is very nice. There is no rust! The floor of the cab is rock solid. Cab corners are rock solid. Again, nothing other then surface rust. The doors line up nice and the doors have no rust, not even at the bottom of the doors. Hinges are strong. The glass is all there. The passenger door glass is cracked and there is a hairline crack in one of the oval rear windows. The windshield is very nice, I dont see any chips at all. When you tow this home you should protect that windshield as they are not easy to come by. The hood is in nice shape. The grill is good with a minor ding on one of the cross pieces. The front fenders are solid and nice. The front bumper is very straight. The running boards are in nice shape and do not flex when you stand on them. The bed of the truck is solid with no rust. The box is solid. The rear fenders are good with one farmer weld but the metal is there so it would just need to be repaired correctly. Again, the rear fender is good. The part that was welded is not a big issue, as the metal is all there and very thick. The tailgate is surprisingly in very nice shape. I looked on the bottom side of the tailgate and I see no rust holes. I bought this IH because it was so solid. Easy easy easy body to work on. The headlights and bezels are nice. The front turning lights and lenses are good. It does not have brake lights. Those are usually the round ones and are almost identical to regular trailer lights. The engine compartment is in nice shape. The frame is straight and not rusty. The steering mechanism is all there and works well. The rearend/differential is locked up. I dont know why and have not investigated it at all. You could rebuild it or put a newer rearend underneath it. The truck sits good and the springs appear in nice shape. The interior of the truck is mostly there. The seat is there but is removed from the vehicle. It needs to be recovered and stuffed. The frame of the seat is in nice shape. I have a box of chrome exterior and interior pieces. The inside door handles and different knobs are there. The visors are there. There are no door panels. The gauges are in nice shape. This is a great solid rig to start from. My plans dont have to be your plans but I had been looking for a 4.0 Jeep motor and auto tranny to put in the truck. Just a very neat truck. Super solid to start from. There are 5 wheels and tires. Ask any question I have not hit on. I want you to be comfortable with the purchase. I have a clear title in hand. Please ask the questions that I might not have answered already. When people ask if I would trust a vehicle to fly in and drive home I would put it in one of three categories. 1. Needs to be trailered. 2. I would feel comfortable driving it across the United States if you have common mechanical knowledge. or 3. I would trust my wife driving alone at night across the United States in this car. So based on this rating system, I put this in category 1. There is no lien on this vehicle and title is good to go. I live in Rapid City, South Dakota. I will assist with shipping but you will need to make arrangements. I have shipped many times using DAS and have had great luck. DAS has been the least expensive that I have found. There is a DAS hub in Aurora Colorado which is the closest one to me. I might be able to get it there for a price and it is something we can talk about. But this is something that would need to be arranged ahead of time and is not a condition of sale unless we talk about it first. I might be able to haul it other places but this again would be something that would need to be discussed ahead of time since I would likely only take it somewhere I would be interested in visiting and on days that work around my career. But, it is a possibility and it won’t hurt to ask. If you are going to use a transport broker I will tell you right now that they will not make it up my driveway as it is too steep and too tight of a turn (many say "door to door" but they will not make it to my house). I can get it to a flat area but will need more than a 15 minute notice to do so. Again, the rearend is not turning so it will not be an easy push on and off the towing truck. Please understand that I am serious about selling and you should be serious about buying if you bid. I am not interested in trading. Please check my ratings and feedback so you can feel comfortable bidding. Good luck and have fun. The title is clear and in hand. I will sell to Canada or USA.
