When Nissan introduced the new body Maxima it became an instant hit. They sold very well, so when a car is popular new..it is usually popular used. Take a look at this one...it needs a little work.
This is a 2001 Nissan Maxima GLE sedan with 116,000 miles. It is a two owner car and does not look too bad overall. It is a "10 footer", it looks great from 10 feet away. When you get closer the cosmetic issues become more obvious. The Black paint is very glossy after a full detailing. However, the front bumper and hood are peppered with stone chips. In addition, the rear bumper has a dent in the left corner some scrapes on the right side and there are some dings and scratches along the sides.
The interior is in great shape with only minimal wear to the driver's seat. All the other seats are very nice, as are the door panels, carpet, dash and trim panels. The power windows/locks/seats/moonroof/radio are all working. The air conditioning is not blowing cold and will need to be serviced.
Under the hood is a smooth running 3.0 V6 engine. This fuel injected powerplant is backed up by an automatic overdrive transmission driving the front wheels.
All four tires are in good condition but do not match. The LF is a Toyo 8/32" and the remainder are Goodyears worn to approx 5/32". They are mounted upon the sliver painted 5 spoke factory alloy rims. We changed the tires after the photos were taken, so you will not see the Goodyears in the photos.
We have sent this Maxima through our shop for a safety evaluation and our tech did find some problems. The ABS (anti-lock brakes), SLIP and TCS (traction control system) lights are all illuminated. The TCS system does have switch, but it does not respond to turn the system on and off. As mentioned, the air conditioning is blowing warm. He also found a bad alternator, weak battery and worn front motor mount. We did replace the alternator with a recycled unit, installed a replacement battery and replaced the bad motor mount. He also changed the oil/filter, cleaned the battery terminals and checked and topped off all the fluids.
The Maxima now starts right up and runs well. The drivability does not seem to be effected by the illuminated dash lights.
Not a bad car for those that are handy, perhaps you can diagnose the problems and repair the car. This could be a great station car or a first car for that new driver.
There is a low "BUY IT NOW" price on this Maxima, we are overstocked with older trades right now and need to make some room for the big spring/summer selling season. General Motors is coming back and we are happy to be a part of the new GM.

This may be in the form of undercarriage surface rust or in some older vehicles..panel rust. If there are perforated panels, we wll disclose and photo the damage.

We cannot list every flaw in a pre-owned vehicle. Due to the mechanical complexity of modern vehicles, dash warning lights may illuminate for many reasons. We will NOT be responsible for service engine, check engine, traction control, SRS Airbag or ABS lights being illuminated after the sale. If any of these lights are on during our listing process, we will disclose it in the listing. Please be aware that you are not bidding on a NEW vehicle. Some vehicles will be offered with limited powertrain warrantees included in the purchase price. Extended coverage may be available at additional cost.
