At auction is my 1960 BMW R50 motorcycle in original Dover white color. This is a 500cc, 4-speed, air-cooled twin-cylinder boxer engine cycle with the Earles Fork front suspension. It has a single-saddle seat with a rare swinging pillion behind it. It has the larger, 6 ½ gallon tank with the tool box in the center. It’s complemented with period twin Buco rear bags. The bike has U.S. style handlebars and the correct exhaust. Mileage is 24,474 and believed to be actual. I purchased this BMW from the original owner, an elderly gentleman, in 1993. Matching number 561213 is on the frame and engine. It’s on a clear Wisconsin title. It has side- and center-stands and pegs for a rear passenger; it has the tire air pump. The bike starts, stops and runs well. It has the patina of a 50-year-old motorcycle in that there are some scratches around the headlight and other areas that have been touched up from being in the garage. It appears to have led an easy life (please review photos.) When I purchased the cycle 16 years ago I had the engine gone through by a local motorcycle shop and had new tires (Metzeler “Perfect”) installed. It has aluminum rims. I’ve used the bike very little (l have a 2003 BMW for my use) and it has not been on the road since 2008. I just had the fluids drained/replaced and installed a new battery prior to the auction. The reason why I’m selling this fine motorcycle is that I bought with the intent of giving it to my son who has been living in Germany for the past 12 years. However, he has informed me that he would prefer the money instead.
