Up for your consideration is my 1997 Honda CR 500R. I purchased this bike from the original owner who took meticulous care of it as you can see. It has an aftermarket FMF Gnarly pipe and Turbine Core II Silencer that is forestry approved. It also has Renthal Bars and an aftermarket Rad Valve system installed in it. It was recently rebuilt with .010 over Honda Piston, Rings, Needle bearing, and Honda gaskets. The cylinder was precision line bored and honed to the minimum clearance .002 which is not a factory set up but more of a factory racing set up to eliminate piston skirt slap, which is very common on 500s and this one doesn’t have it. The previous owner was a pretty talented dude he actually won the Mt Garfield Hill climb Amateur class with this bike and also won Bridgeton’s Open class Dirt drag with this bike, and went 104 MPH in 400 feet. So yes the bike is stupid fast. This CR 500 R hasn’t had the normal life of Motocross tracks and amateur miss use. But more of a once in awhile go out and spank the dudes who claim to be hardcore by a skilled rider who had a fleet of hardcore bikes. As for me I’m a 40 years old and just always wanted a really mint 500. This is my second 500 but that was years ago, and that bike was weak compared to this one. I have ridden it once up at Silver Lake Sand Dunes. I was never beaten in the drags but I realized I’m way to old to be ridding such a monster. The bike also has a new front Pirelli MT44 and new Dunlop Geomax MX 57 rear tire. The shocks have all been freshened up and are set up for a 210 lb rider. The bike also comes with all the stock Honda OEM exhaust, 6” swing arm extensions, a complete second rear wheel assembly with a new dune hopper paddle which is very nice since there is no screwing around with mounting and dismounting your knobby back and forth only to find out your tube is ripped. It takes about 5 minutes to switch rear wheels. It also comes with a custom non rotating dune flag mount built for this bike. There’s a small scratch in the front fender and that’s it. It’s mint, and has had above average care. This is a good representation of one of Honda’s most collectable bikes. Buy a bike that’s only going up in value. Feel free to ask questions.
