ONLINE AUCTION – 1948 VINTAGE FIAT 1100S ROADSTER WITH STANGUELLINI EMBLEMS? We are pleased to offer this car, which we believe to be a 1948 vintage Fiat 1100S Roadster. We are selling the car for the Trustee in a court case out of Australia. The Trustee, Ferrier Hodgson, of Melbourne, Australia, has engaged Gallivan to take necessary steps to sell it. We were unable to verify correct title work or provenance on this vehicle. The previous owner tried to sell the car using incorrect documents, after the chassis number was altered. From our inspection, it appears that the chassis number is 500166. Either way, it is a 1948 Fiat 1100S, which ONLY 451 WERE PRODUCED!. THIS IS INDEED A RARE AUTOMOBILE! Therefore, in an effort to get a title of any kind, we contacted the Indiana BMV. They have issued us a title and a new VIN, and called the car a 1954 (I don’t know why) Fiat. We now have a title, which we will be able to use to transfer ownership of the car to the high bidder. We have contacted Fiat with the potential chassis numbers, and they told us this is a 1948 vintage. We also contacted the Stanguellini museum in Modena, Italy. The museum told us that this is not a real Stanguellini, although there are emblems on both the hood and engine indicating so. Fiat also informed us that the 108C engine is from the Fiat Balilla 100 508C, (1937-1945). The car has had sheet metal work to the under carriage, and to the frame as well. The rest of the car looks original, with period wheels, instrumentation, and drive train. We are selling this vehicle “As Is, Where Is”, and are not making any claims, warranties, or representations, as to what this vehicle is. It is, however, a really nice classic roadster, which may prove to be a very special to the person who can figure out exactly what it is. Sale Dates: The auction will be held on eBay motors, for a 10-day auction beginning on June 11, 2010. Search for the listing as “1948 Fiat 1100S”. TERMS: A 15% Buyer’s Premium will be added to the high bid, to equal the total purchase price. The car is being sold “As Is, Where Is”. The car is in our facility in Indianapolis, Indiana, and available for inspection.
