I purchased this 1976 Mercedes in August 2008 and restored it to the smart looking car that it is today. The car is not restored to it's original condition, but it's close. The following restoration work has been performed on the car. Exterior All rust spots (just a few) ground down to metal and refinished with fiberglass.Both rear quarter panels have been reinforced with steel and covered with fiberglass.Exterior painted with enamel and covered with clear coat.Added chrome fender trim.Hard-top headliner replaced with a leatherette type vinyl covering. Soft-top has a few minor tears that I have patched.There are a few minor dings on the side panels, but are barely noticeable.Soft top rubber seals have all been replaced. Interior All old carpet and padding torn out and replaced with new padding and carpeting.Brown color interior repainted to flat black.Upper dash panel recovered with dash kit.Leatherette type seat covers custom made to fit original seats.Wood accents added.Installed new AM/FM radio with single CD player. Radio has a set of four speakers. Mechanical/Engine New fuel filter and fuel pump.New fuel injectors. New camshaft oiler bars.New spark plugs and spark plug wires.New main fuel line to fuel distributor.Removed and cleaned fuel distributor.Replaced oil filter and changed oil with Mobil 1 oil. Tires are Kelly-Springfield and have about 1,000 miles on them. The engine is a 4.5L V8 with overhead cams. Being a 1976, the car runs a little rough at first, but when the engine is warmed up, it smoothes out pretty good. Car rides very good and gets second looks from passers-by anywhere I take it.
