Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a nice 1978 Toyota LandCruiser FJ40 First off, this FJ40 has been my daily driver for the past year +. It runs great and is very reliable. It is complete and looks great. I am the second owner. Here are the details... Mileage is close but not exact. 86k when I got it, approx ~92k~ now. Starting with the exterior. The sheet metal in the rear end was replaced with new (rear quarters and sill) The front of the rig (Hood, fenders, bib, aprons) were removed, sand blasted and painted with original (PPG) Olive Green #653. The rest of the rig was sanded, prepped and painted with PPG Single stage urathane in original 653 Olive. (matches ID plate) New undercoating has been applied to underside All new stainless hardware was used. (hood hooks, windshield latches, bolts for flares) All new emblems front and rear. (minus TOYOTA badge, it was in good shape) Front bumper has been profesionally set up for towing. (hook it up to your RV and go!) New bushwacker flares with stainless hardware. New signal lights front and rear. (front are from early 70's vintage which I prefer) It is sporting 33 x 10.50 x 15 BFG Mud Terrains with under 5k on them. I also have a 5th (new) for spare (not mounted but included) The tires are mounted on OEM wagon steelies. (painted OEM white) It has WARN locking hubs that work great. Rain gutter has been treated and does not leak. Issues with exterior include: Small crack in front windshield (lower drivers side, does not obstruct view at all and will not grow) Has minor dings (pea size) here and there. I did not use bondo to cover them up. Has a radio antenna hole for CB or similar. I have treated the area with stainless hardware. Raingutter has been treated, but I did not repaint it, is is original paint. Edge has a couple minor scratches. Hood could use another buff to be perfect. Moving on to the interior. Here is where it needs some work to be great. I have not yet got around to restoring the interior so it is in its ORIGINAL state. Nothing is hiding. The Good... All electrical works minus the horn. PO had some big air horn which I removed. Just needs a horn hooked up. Everything is there, original seats front and rear, roll bar, center console, jack etc. I added a new cassette radio that has an IPOD jack. I did NOT hack the dash. speakers are the box type behind the seats. Heater works great Still has original sound deadening material on drivers and passengers floorboards. The BAD... Needs work (my opinion) Needs upholstery throughout. Rear jumps are "OK" but I would recover them. Has some pitting (no rust through anywhere) on rear bed, floorboards. I would treat and add bedliner or similar. (front floor boards are actually pretty good) I have primered rear of floor board to treat the area. (you would need to finish) I would also blast and powdercoat all frames, brackets and rollbar to be perfect. They are in good shape now though. It has aftermarket oil and water temp gauges that work. Original still there and work, but PO didnt trust them and went this route. Needs new weatherstripping on the front and rear doors. (window WS is good) The Drivetrain... It has a nicely done 350 V8 with plenty of power. (which I think it really needs) The PO explained he had the V8 installed when it was new at the dealer! It has a holley 4 barrel which provides good performance Ram Horn exhaust into a twin muffler setup. It retains its original 4 speed transmission and transfer case. Both work great. Has Original springs with new bushings up front. Original disc brakes are there and work great. Only issue with drivetrain is the transfer case has a minor leak which I treated with a new seal in the parking brake, but still is an issue. Prob can use a speedi sleeve. (common on these rigs) So there you have it. I am selling to finance other projects. I have a very fair buy it now price for the quality of rig your getting. I have tried my best to describe this FJ40, but if you have any questions please ask. You are also welcome to arrange a test drive if you would like. Located in Salem Oregon. (97304) Please do not bid if you are unsure of financing. These rigs are hard to finance so if you don't have the funds to send immediately, please do not bid. Paypal deposit of $4,000.00 is required within 24 hours of auctions end, with the remaining due within 7 days. I know that is a high deposit, but I want to be sure the buyers are serious. Please understand this is a 32 year old FJ40 landcruiser, and there is no warranty. Good luck, and thank you.On Jun-04-10 at 22:13:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention, I have a clear title in hand.
