Vehicle Detail

1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS For sale is a classic 1969 Chevy Camaro Super Sport. This popular American Muscle Car is Daytona Yellow with a black vinyl top and black hockey stick stripes. It comes equipped with a new GM Performance 383 Stroker engine (less than 500 miles) which can produce up to 430 HP, 460 ft/lbs torque, and runs on 91 octane pump gas. Other new equipment include; Holley 750 cfm carburetor, MSD ignition, Hooker headers, custom 2½" dual exhaust, heavy duty Ron Davis aluminum radiator, 15” American Racing “Torque Thrust” wheels, BF Goodrich T/A Radials, deluxe interior with new Hounds-tooth upholstery, and upgraded suspension. It also has the 350 Turbo HydraMatic transmission, positraction 12-bolt rear axle, power steering, front disc brakes, rear spoiler ('67/'68), rear antenna, Kenwood CD player, special SS hood, and all SS emblems. What makes this car so unique is the fact that the Van Nuys, Los Angeles factory cowl tag has an odd symbol instead of a letter in the spot indicating body style. What should normally be a letter before (3) numbers for SS models (only the Norwood plant used the X code) this particular vehicle has a "1/2" symbol. According to reliable sources there was a brief period in October of the production year that the L.A. plant ran out of letters with some days still left, so apparently symbols were used instead. That seems very likely since this Camaro was built in the 5th week of the 10th month in '69. I personally haven't seen or heard of any with this same marking in existence, however there are plenty 1969 Camaros' out there with an "X", or other letter in the proper location. This rare feature makes the historical trivia of this particular Camaro very interesting, and perhaps even more desirable in the future. I've owned this awesome ride since 1987 and it's been stored under cover the entire time. It's also important to note that when I first purchased the car it had '72 heads on a shaved 350 smallblock and was white/white, so unfortunately it's not a #s matching vehicle. I can verify the body panels and frame are straight and it's never been in an accident. However, as to be expected with a 40+ year old vehicle, it still has some minor flaws to be addressed for a more complete restoration. The paint and top will need replacing in the near future along with some trunk repair as well (see pics). How extensive the remainder of detail work to be completed is up to the new owner. Even though there are improvements that can be made it's still a solid investment (appraised at $24,000 in 2007) you can have fun with. The original 14" Rally Wheels, hub caps, and trim rings are included as well as the original air conditioning hoses, compressor, and booster (not installed). This is a very fast and straight first generation Camaro that's guaranteed to turn some heads and provide years of enjoyment.
