I bought this car this last february in Tucson Arizona as my new everyday car for the next 10 years but I'm moving back to Europe so a new owner will have the chance to keep this exceptional Town Car. That is the model I've realy wanted mainly for the fact that it's one of the last real quiet american "boat like ride" and because it's so strong. I've known this by using them every year with limousine service cars in New york, talking to the drivers about their 500.000 miles + Town Cars. Unfortunatly I had to have a sun-roof and I just couldn't find a low mileage example with one, so I was considering a Jaguar XJ until I found an ad without pics for this one, and bought it directly. The seller ( I have no problem giving his info to the buyer ) is an 80 year old man who bought it for his wife in 1998 from Ford Tucson by trading in the brand new 1998 Town Car he had just bought for her. She just wanted the better built and more classic shape back again, like the 1992 she had before. The reason they put it for sale is that she can't drive anymore and they bought a minivan with wheel chair back door. I've done about 3000 miles with it after instaling 2 new Michelin tyres in the front ( the rear Michelin are about 50% ) and all I can say is that it drives like coming out of the show room in 1996. Silence, silence, silence, I wouldn't know how to descibe it better. It starts, iddles, accelerates, brakes, turns and shifts like a new one. No issues what so ever. I insist on the fact that I I wish to be more accurate than average on the description of the condition of this car and wouldn't mind mentioning the minest mechanical issue that could need attention, but there is NOTHING !!! Also, I took considerabe time in taking over 200 pics to show as accuratly as possible the outside and inside condition, some times taking more than 10 pics for one scrach finding the best light to reflect reality. The last 11 pics are detailed close ups of the few minor details that seperates this car from a 0 mile one. You will see in details how good this car was kept and how for example the condition of the inside shows no wear down on any of the usualy very solicitated areas like steering wheel, arm rest, switches etc... None of the 4 wheels have any kind of scraches or dents and have never been re-painted, 100% original. She's ready to cruise anywhere with cruise controle, the roof open and good music from the JBL sound system with 6 CD charger in the boot. There is one thing that is not original on the car, the sun-roof switch. Apprently the original plastic one wasn't build well and brakes many times. I found complains on the net about it as it broke on my first day of driving ( ironic as I'm kind of a sun-roof freek ! ) Ford sells the complete switch kit for 156$ even if it's just the small plastic part that is to thin and they only sell it in black, no more burgundy. I found one from a 1989 Town car. They were built like a rock ! It sticks out a little as I didn't want to cut around but at least it will never brake. Other than that, the driver side reading lamp doesn't work, probably the bulb needs changing. And finaly, both rear doors ashtray covers don't stay close, It must be a week sort of mechanism that should keep them closed instead of droping open like now.
