Vehicle Detail
I bought this car in feb. 1987.I decided in 1997 to tear out the interior and repaint the car.Years following,I changed jobs, had 3 children, got a little older and low and behold the car sat idle and demoed. In 2008,I finally got around to finishing the car and here it is (see pictures).Due to lifestyle changes,ie. busy riding my motorcycle and camping with the family in the summer months--I no longer have time for the car-I can no longer stand watching this car parked and covered in the garage!! I changed the color of the car using the 1994 color code of corvette black rose---At dusk its appears to be black and in the sunshine it's dark purple. The interior is 95% restored--I changed the color to charcoal including new leather seat covers, carpet, door panels, dash pad,new speedometer, stereo and speakers, steering wheel, etc. Exteriorwise car has new mirror t-tops,tires and rims, ground effects and spoiler wing, new mufflers, new brakes/calipers,new front/rear bumpers, etc. Motor is original with just over 89000 miles (mostly in florida) and the transmission was rebuilt in1989. Since the car sat for so long--it starts up beautifully but the idle is still a little rough. When driven on the highway it runs great without hesitation and quick too!!! However, with the idle a little rough I brought it to my local chevy dealer for a diagnosis. They said that the ecm and prom were fine and there were no vacuum leaks--nothing showed up on the diagnosis computer. They said maybe to do complete tune-up so that's what I did. I replace cap, hei, plugs, wires, egr valve,o2 sensor, all filters, injectors flushed, etc. Air conditioner never worked since i owned it (since I always drove with t-tops off) I'm not sure if the system needed charging or that the condensor is no good.other than that everything in fine working order. Getting back to the idle--the dealership relooked at the diagnosis and still found nothing more for the problem--but the idle is still a little rough---the head mechanic said that the car needs to be run-run-run!!!!!!!!
