Very nice and clean 1981 Corvette Coupe. Original L81 motor with automatic transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, tilt/telescopic wheel, power driver seat, power windows, cruise control & cold Air Conditioning. Exterior color is 1981 GM code 75 Red with dark charcoal interior. Original owners manual & the original spare tire & jack are still in the car. Car is showing 67k miles on the odometer. I did not buy the car new so I cannot verify the miles but I have owned 20 Corvettes in my lifetime & I do not think the odometer has rolled over. The car had/has too many original parts and still drove too good in my opinion for the odometer to have rolled. This is not a 1000 point show car ready for Bloomington but is a very nice, clean and good driving car that gets allot of attention. My reserve is less than what I have invested but this is not a must sell situation. EXTERIOR: New paint (1981 Code 75 Red) *Car was completely stripped of all trim, emblems, lights, weather striping etc. for paint. Painted with Dupont Fulthane Urethane paint with integrated clear & then wet sanded and buffed. New exterior emblems New front spoiler (all 3 pieces) New side marker lights (front and rear) New exterior door handles New complete weather strip package DRIVETRAIN: Original motor runs great and has good power. Original transmission shifts good & firm. Rear end feels good and solid with no strange noises. Previous owner replaced the front calipers, front brake lines and front brake hoses. I have replaced the following parts- New 18x8 Boss Motorsports wheels New 255/45 18 Nexen tires New plugs and wires New oil filter change New air cleaner ductwork New chrome air cleaner lid New Steeroids Rack and Pinion setup New adjustable strut rods New Monroe shocks (all 4) New alternator New wiper motor New master cylinder New rear brake hoses New o2 sensor New headlight actuator relays New headlight actuator seals New headlight hose kit New headlight hose check valve New a arm dust shields New lower speedometer cable New front end alignment (05/05/10) New complete exhaust (all aluminized pipe with off road x-pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. Air conditioning charged 05/10/10 and blows cold. Car runs and drives great. The rack and pinion conversion made a huge difference. Exhaust sounds great being opened up with the off road x pipe. OTHER: Everything works on the car except the power mirrors and the emergency brake. The power mirrors worked prior to removal for repaint. I have not looked into what the problem is .I think the choke on the carb. needs to be adjusted but I have not adjusted on it because the car cold starts and runs out too good. Car had original paint on it when I bought it and all the interior was original except the seat covers. I have receipts for most all the parts and work I have done to the car. On May-31-10 at 16:56:25 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a few inquires about the low Autocheck score since listing this. I have no idea, nor do I think Autocheck does, how Autocheck comes up with their score. I ran a report on it 2 months ago and it had a range of 30-62 with a score of 8. 2 months and 1 more owner later it has a range of 29-55 and a score of 9. It appears that Autocheck deducts if the car is titled with odometer unknown. This car has been registered in Tennessee for the past 14 years, as the report shows, and TN does not track mileage on registered vehicles once they exceed 10 years of age. I can't change that but Autocheck feels the need to give the car a low score for that. Read through the other 81 Vette reports and some don't show any history or maybe one entry and have a fabulous score. Regardless of the score I have pictures of the car from when I bought it and a clean Autocheck report that shows the car has been in Alabama form 1986-1996 and in Tennessee since..I do have a copy of the previous owners title from 2007 and it has mileage listed as 65000 but it doesn't show on the report. I do believe in running Carfax reports and/or Autocheck reports but I can't make any sense out of Autocheck's scoring system. The goverment must be scoring these.
