Vehicle Detail

Please read this entire description before bidding or asking any questions. I will do my very best to describe the car as best as possible, so if you ask me something that I already took the time to write, it will let me know you are not serious about the car. 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5S 5-speed Manual Transmission 103k Miles For more pictures, see http://www.mikeeckman.com/nissan I am told that the above site may give you a certificate security error, this is a problem with my ISP, just click OK to continue and you will see the pictures! Up for auction is my black 2002 Nissan Altima 2.5S. This car has a 5 speed Manual Transmission, not an Automatic Transmission. This is an uncommon option for this model so if you are looking for a mid-sized car with a manual transmission, this is the car for you. Standard features on the car are: Cloth Interior (Gray), Single Disc CD player, Fog Lights, Power Windows, Power Locks, Keyless Entry, Air Conditioning, Cruise Control, 16” Standard Wheels w/ Wheel Covers. According to Nissan, this engine is rated at 175 HP and 180 ft/lb of torque. The engine has an aluminum block and heads. It has a compression ratio of 9.5:1 and has a steel timing chain, so no replacement of a timing belt is necessary. Combined with the Manual Transmission, the engine is peppy and the car has no problems accelerating on the highway, but it is by no means a race car. I am told I am the second owner of this car. I bought it in June 2006 with 61k miles on it from Hawkinson Nissan in Matteson, IL. I was told that the original owner was a repeat customer at this dealer and traded it in for another Nissan. The car was in good shape when I bought it, so I have no reason to doubt what the dealer said, although I cannot prove it. This car has a clean title, and its only accident was a small fender bender which only affected the rear bumper, but it has been fixed at a reputable body shop. It has never failed Cook County emissions (which is one of the more strict emissions tests around). The car runs well, rides excellent on the highway, and the engine pulls strong all throughout the RPM range. This car has a Lien on it from Capital One. You will NOT get the title right away, I will have to mail it to you. If you cannot live with this stipulation, please do not bid on the car! I still have another year to go on the loan for this car, but its my second car and I just want to eliminate expenses. Once I receive your payment, I will mail in the payoff right away to Capital One, and once they clear their paperwork, they will send me the title and I will mail it to you. This should take about 1-2 weeks. Upon completion of this auction, I will draft up a Bill of Sale that you will be able to use as a legal document saying that you are the legal owner of the car. I will also give you the keys to the car, and you will take it home with the understanding that as soon as I receive the title, I will sign it over to you and mail it to you. While I understand this is not an ideal situation to buy a car, it happens all the time nowadays. I have a perfect seller rating on ebay and you are just going to have to trust me! ;) This car 8 years old and has over 103k miles and is in appropriate condition for an 8 year old car. I am confident this is a reliable car, but want to be as forthcoming as possible so as to give the most accurate description of this car as possible. I have taken pictures of all “cosmetic blemishes”. In the almost 4 years I’ve owned this car, I have had the oil changed every 5k miles at a local Midas or done it myself. I have never observed any type of leaks or smoking from the tailpipe. Here are the things that I have replaced and can vouch for: Spark plugs were replaced right when I bought the car, at around 61k milesBattery was replaced January 2008Fuel Pump was replaced January 2008Tires were replaced in May 2008 (the car had around 83k miles on it at the time)Front rotors and brake pads replaced April 2008Front brake pads were replaced again March 2010Rear brake pads were replaced in May 2010 That is all of the service I can vouch for. This has been a reliable car for me, and I do not know when anything else was last replaced or serviced. The car does have some cosmetic damage. As best as I can describe them, here is the list: Small dent in rear drivers side door, near the door handle. I do not know how this happened, but its not a big dent and probably could be popped out, but I never tried. The dent is only in the metal, and there is no paint damage.Very small "door ding" in passenger side rear door. Many small rock dings in the front bumper and hood. I wouldn’t describe any of this as abnormal for a car driven on Chicago roads for 8 years. Aside from the above mentioned cosmetic problems, the interior of the car is in excellent shape. I am not a smoker, and the car didn’t smell of smoke when I bought it. There are no holes anywhere in the upholstery. The headliner does not sag. The carpet is in great shape and shows only normal signs of use. The exterior of the car is in good shape (aside from the above mentioned dents). There is no visible rust on the car and when clean, the black paint still shines. I have several pictures of the interior and exterior available at http://www.mikeeckman.com/nissan. Finally, the car does have a couple mechanical problems. The spring that “pops” open the fuel door is missing. Many Nissan Altimas of this age have a problem with the fuel door hinge rusting. I had mine replaced, but somehow the spring came off. So, the fuel door opens fine, and is in excellent shape, it just doesn’t have that spring action that most fuel doors have. There is minor warpage of the front rotors. The brakes on this car are perfectly safe. Many cars have warped rotors. I replaced them myself, and all I can say is I must have gotten a cheap set from the parts store. I replaced the pads this spring, so the pads have plenty of meat left on them. If it sounds like I am writing a lot of negative things about this car, it is because these are the issues I want you to be 100% aware of before considering this car. I have to repeat though that this car has never stranded me and runs well. Now that the negative stuff is out of the way, here is a list of a couple other random things people might ask me about the car: The stereo is completely stock, but works well. This car has a single disc CD player. I listen to mostly rock music and have no complaints about the stock radio. The car rides well and has a good alignment. It does not pull to either side and within reason will drive straight when you take your hands off the wheel on the highway. The car has no known electrical problems. All of the lights work, the electronic locks work, the power windows all work, etc.As I mentioned above, the interior is in really great shape. The air conditioning works great and blows cold. The shift knob and boot are new. The originals were showing signs of age, so I replaced them. I looked up the value of my car with the options and mileage that it has on both KBB.COM and EDMUNDS.COM and using their rating of “Fair” from KBB.COM and “Average” from EDMUNDS.COM, both places return an estimated Private Party value of $4095 and $4114 respectively. Please consider this when placing your bid as I am not responsible if you outbid the value of the car. As I said earlier, this car is not in perfect condition and there is a pretty good chance (as with any 100k+ mileage car) that you will have to do some servicing to the car. I reserve the right to cancel bids by people I don’t think are serious, or have an undesirable rating. I apologize if this makes me sound like a jerk, but I’ve been on eBay for a long time and I’ve been burned before, and don’t want to waste my time or your time. Hopefully you have made it this far into my description and are still interested in the car. As I already said, there aren’t many Manual Transmission Nissan Altimas out there, so if you buy this car, make sure you know how to drive a Manual Transmission. To recap, if you bid on this car, you: Understand it does not have an Automatic TransmissionUnderstand that there is a lien on the car, and I will have to mail you the title once I receive itUnderstand that the car has some minor cosmetic flawsUnderstand that there are some mechanical problems with the car – but nothing out of the ordinary for an 8 year old carUnderstand the terms of the auction Upon completion, I require a $150 Paypal deposit to confirm interest in the car. You can pay me the rest in person. I will credit the $150 to the purchase when you pick it up. I will accept payment only with a certified cashier's check, or cash.I am in the far south suburbs of Chicago. I do not want to deliver the car, but may consider meeting you somewhere if you contact me in advance before bidding. Arrange a time and date that works for you to come pick up the car. Thanks for bidding on this auction. If you have any questions, please contact me. I tried to think of as much information as possible, but I am sure there is something I missed! :)
