Vehicle Detail
I can attest to the fact that these early CL350 Hondas are tough little machines. When I was in high school in 1970-73, these are the bikes my buddies and I rode. I have a copy of Honda Sport Cycle magazine from the spring of 1969 with a feature about the 1968 350 street scrambler taking first place in the Mexican 1000 in Baja California. 832 miles in 20 hours and 38 minutes. It pounded the competition. Now, I'm not advocating you should take this one on a similar trip. It's TOO nice! But it sure seems to be as rugged as I remember. With a press of the starter button, it's running. Petcock has new gaskets. Carbs are clean as a whistle, and after a thorough tank cleaning, the bike got a beautiful topaz paint job. It's so shiny it looks like a wet Tootsie Pop sucker. I replaced the gas tank release button with a new locking type. Steering head bearings were removed, cleaned and re-greased. There was a small patch of rust around the valve stem on the front rim so the rim was removed, all the rust cleaned off and then the rim was painted gloss black with an epoxy paint. It looks great on the bike and I think it makes the bike look a little more rugged compared to the chrome rim. A more fitting look for a scrambler. On went a new Dunlop K70. The pipes and mufflers are beautiful. One photo shows the bottom of the mufflers so you can see how nice they are. The bike sounds like it did when new. The tach and speedo are nearly pristine. I've seen many of these units when illuminated, and these have the brightest, clearest lights I've seen. The neutral green is bright and so is the amber indicator. Now. It's not perfect. There is some cleaning that could be done to make it outstanding, and that I leave to the buyer. But this is the kind of cleaning that's fun to do. Scrub scrub here, rub rub there (like on the Tin Man from the wizard of Oz). It will be worthy of an audience with the Great Oz himself. I've done the hard work, you get to have fun. I would explain more about it, but really, the bike is in excellent condition. It's ready to go. I'll do my best to answer any questions and any bidders are welcome to see it and hear it run. If you can't come and see it, email me or call 410-299-0446. A nonrefundable, $150 Paypal deposit is due at the end of the auction or within 24 hours. I've set what I think is a very reasonable Buy it Now price so if you are looking for one of these, you may want to get it in your garage ASAP. Payment balance due by cashiers check or cash within 1 week, and before bike is released. Title is clear.
