BACKGROUND STORY So the background on this vehicle. My husband purchased this vehicle for our cousin about 2 years ago from an auction. He got it for a very good price with only 66k original miles on it. However, it needed several minor repairs, niether of us can recall what they were. However, he repaired all the minor things (minus 1)before handing it over to our cousin (who at the time was in a tight spot and in need). The 1 repair not made was more than the others cause they were things he didnt know how to personally do. About 1 year ago our cousin bought all new tires, new brakes, got a tuneup, alignment, alternator and battery with her tax return. The car was in top shape again. HOWEVER!!! smile. There was 1 problem that the car had ever since we bought it and still had the same problem until last week. Sometimes, it would hesitate when you tried to punch it or even tried to accelerate quickly ...its like it hesitated a few times and than would go with no problem. It was NOT the Tranny. Tranny is in excellent shape. That is what my hubby had checked when he first got it. Our cousin just drove it this way. It was an occassional annoyance but had no real impact on the driving of the vehicle. It started and ran excellent (minus the issue i named). Had ALWAYS been reliable ever since cousin had it and still was until last week. About a month ago when our cousin got a whopping settlement from a lawsuit, she purchased a new Camry in cash and gave us the Contour (technically gave it back). We have several vehicles, didnt need another one. We are selling this one. however, we were unsure about the prioblem and listed on ebay just as we had read the code on it. However, it turned out we read the code for the wrong vehicle. The code for our ford was timing belt tnesioner or jumping (as causes in code). So we took this tiem off ebay and took it to be repaired. Turned out that it was not the belt but the pulleys or something had worn down to about n9othing and the last couple times we drove on it it caused internal damage and needed a Cyliunder head and gasket set about 300 dollars in parts (used for cylinder set new for gasket). However, the labor wsa ridiculous (like 4-500). So we are relisitng as is with needed engne work. We already paid for the timing belt issue (like 450 dollars part and labor) and its still at shop. It would have to be towed from there or they could tow it for you (depending on distance). EXTERIOR For the most part, this car is in very good shape for the year. there are very few surface scrapes and really no dings except the one on driver front fender. My husband on his way to work had a minor fender bender in stop and go traffic. It scracthed the driver side front bumper (as seen in pic) and caused a minor indentation in drvier side front fender. You can hardly notice the dent. There is is 1 or 2 very minor blemishes on vehicle other wise looks really good. Newer tires with good tread. Also front grille needs replaced. We probably will have this replaced before end of auction. Doesnt effect car in any way other than looks. MECHANICS We just had the timing belt set put on, new pulleys and some other stuff for about 450 dollars. However, still needs cylinder head and gasket set. Other than these issues: It also has a minor pull. All else is solid. Extremely reliable. Never had problem being strnaded and i personally would drive this car any distance (after those repairs). Of course anything could unexpectedly happen but id have NO RESERVATIONs. Great exhaust, great sounding engine, great shocks, no leaks, good power, good suspension comfortable ride. Air is COLD!! Cruise works great, horn and all lights working order. Has nice cd player with good sounding system. AGAIN other than the funny idle/accelerate thingy and slight pull this is solid!!! INTERIOR Interior is in very good condition. No rips or tears anywhere. A little dusty could use a thorough cleaning. Dash is in great shape. There is 1 area where a vent cover for defrost isnt secured down all the way in corner. In back seat in pic you can see there is a speaker cover missing (can get at bone yard for free probably) Seat's levers are funny they work ok but seems a bit stiff to use them. Has power windows and locks that work great. LARGE very spacious and clean trunk. This is all we can think of. Vehicle for sale locally so reserve the right ot end auction if need be.
