Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1940 Plymouth P-9 Business Coupe. It was my fathers car that he started restoring, but never finished. The car has been in a workshop storage for 23 years. It has a clear Kansas title. The car has been almost disassembled, as he sandblasted the frame, and various parts, then painted, and started to reassemble. He has had numerous parts cars throughout the years, and all parts he had goes with the car. There are extra fenders, nose pieces, chrome trim, wiring, transmissions, bellhousings, starters, you name it, it's probably there. Also has an extra block, and crank. The pistons are out of the current engine, but there are what looks to be a new set of Mopar rods and 30 over pistons with rings in a box. Some of the bolts are missing on the oil pan and engine components, but are probably in one of the many boxes of parts. Brakes are non-functional, and the clutch linkage is not on the car. It is in a box. The car has three 16 inch wheels, and one 15 inch wheel. There is an extra 16 inch wheel that is included. Right front tire is new, (16inch). The car is mostly solid, as the only rust I could find is above the windshield, and right in fron of the drivers seat, on the floor. (see pictures). The rear fenders are not original, but the original ones are included, although they are dented. The car is basically straight with a few dents in the passenger door and the right front fender has one as well. The driprail on both sides above both doors is bent up a little bit. The paint was faded, so he put some can primer over the really faded spots to keep the rust away. The beauty rings and caps are in nice shape, as well as the nose trim. Glass is good on the drivers door, as well as quarter windows, and rear glass. Passenger window is cracked down the center, and windshield isn't broke, but is streaked, like the glass layer is separating. Trans linkage is not hooked up, but is in a box. Car is missing right front shock. The car also comes with extra radiators, and I think there is some 40 P-10 trim as well. I think that trim used to run down the side of the hood, and down the side of the car. There is two hoods as well. They have the holes in the side for the above mentioned trim. There is a lot of parts that go to the car that are not on the car, as well as extras. Bring a big truck and trailer, or have your buddy follow you in his truck. This is a very restorable car, with a lot of hard to find parts. It would be a great project to see to completion, or to rod out. I cannot ship or deliver, but will help with loading. If the buyer wants it shipped you may make all of your own arrangements for the carrier. As always, feel free to ask any questions about the car. Thank you for looking, and good luck!
