Normal 0 This car was originally a southern California car and was purchased in 1988 by mother (second owner) who drove it infrequently, until 1995. At that time she stored it in her garage until last fall when I acquired it with the intention to do a full ground up restoration. Yes, the car has been stored since 1995, the title is still in her name with the purchase date of 1/1988, and it currently runs. Since completing full restorations on my two classic Mercedes Benzes I have to say that at this time I have decided to part with this car and not start the restoration. It is time for me to spend less time with my head buried in my cars. It is a hard decision since this car has solid bones, is a total joy to drive, AND a collector car. While it was stored the car was garaged and not left in the elements or bastardized. From the photos it is clear that this car will benefit from a complete restoration. It is one of the best rust free 2002s available on eBay and Craigslist with which to start. The car runs, however I recommend the carb be rebuilt and the choke adjusted. It does not burn oil. Please note that the car is totally complete, inside and out, and is completely stock. Below is an appraisal of the car: Engine is solid and does not burn oil I recommend the carburetor be rebuilt and the choke adjusted The AC is complete and was working when the car was put into storage, there is no refrigerant charge at this time Sunroof works Transmission is solid and has no issues Small dent on the driver side rear qtr panel There is rust on the two front fenders, There is rust on the lower front fascia Pitting rust on the passenger side rear wheel arch There is no rust other than surface rust on the under carriage and floor boards Dash is in exceptional shape with no cracks Windshield has a crack that will require it to be replaced to pass inspection No rust in the trunk No rust on the rear shock towers No rust in the engine bay or on the front frame members All interior panels and headliner are in excellent shape, sunroof liner has a 3” tear All chrome and plastic lights are in excellent shape
