Chevy mdl 3100 step side pickup frame off restoriation and gorgeous The truck is a 1948 Chevrolet 1/2 ton pickup, Model 3100 (tank is not in the cab and no wind wings I think the best early chevy to restore) It has a V 8 small block with an automatic three speed transmission both work perfectly. It weighs 3,405 lbs. (actual weight from a dump scale) The Trans was recently rebuilt (at Henderson Transmission in Nevada) and the truck runs perfectly. The truck was totally disassembled down to the ground. The body is still steel. The bed was rebuilt with all new runners, wood, front, sides, and tail gate, all were replaced. The fire wall was replaced with a smooth one (no extra holes etc.) It has a Pontiac 301 V 8. The truck has a three speed auto transmission with a Locar shifter and a GM 10 bolt rear end non posi.. The fuel tank has been replaced and is now a black 20 Gallon tank. The engine and transmission is cooled with an automatic electric fan that really keeps the truck cool. It works great and there are no over heating issues ever. A Lojack system has been installed and I have all the paperwork for that system. The pedals and the steering column are from a 1980's GM car. It does have duel exhaust out the back. The only other things I can say at this time is the truck has all new chrome grill, all new chrome bumpers, all new chrome door handles, all new window mechanisms and all new glass with new rubber around. On the inside the gauges are retro but brand new. The truck has a 12 volt system. It has an AM FM cassette that is well done. New wiring through out the truck. All the lights work and it has turn signals that can easily be seen. Seat belts have been added and they are the shoulder type (a pain to install). New stainless steel tail light cans with led lights (very bright). The wheels are American five bolt with 60 series tires. The paint is a slight metallic and clear coat. The pin striping was done by Lenny at So Cal Street Rods in Vegas. The interior is custom, not too fancy but very nice. We do feel the truck is finished but not over done! Negatives: speedometer does not work. I use the GPS which is very accurate but you will have to get your own GPS as ours does not come with the truck. There are a few places in the paint that should be touched up but this truck has a gorgeous paint job.The fuel gauge does not work (I think it is an easy fix but I cannot get under the dash any longer. People talk about head turners, etc. but I will tell you something. If you take this truck any where you will spend more time talking about the truck then you care to. We primarely drive it to shows and around town on Sundays. We have never hauled anything in the truck but love driving it around. The truck is located in Lancaster Calif. and registered in Nevada (we moved from Nevada). The truck has been registered in Calif before so easy to register here (we use triple A). I have a clean title in my name and the registration is current. Of course the truck is being sold AS IS where is but feel free to come and look it over to your hearts content.
