I purchased this Shelby in late 2005 from Tango Motors, now know as Shelby Mustang Motors. The car had been in Canada it's entire life. Sold new at Fogg Motors Newwestminister BC Canada. When I received the car it had 85,337 original miles. A complete restore was required, however the body was well preserved due to the five previous paint jobs that had been applied. The car had all its original panels. Unfortunately the previous owner flared the rear quarters to allow for over sized tires. I replaced them with a pair of NOS panels. The floor was rotted in many areas, and that was replaced with a single piece part. All spot weld were preserved. All available resources have been utilize to painstakingly restore this car to the highest level. Almost each part on this car that required replacing is NOS. I searched many months while the body work was in progress to obtain only the best parts for this car. I started a concourse rotisserie restoration in the fall of 2006. The restoration was completed August 2008. The car has 200 test miles since the restoration, is kept in a climate controlled garage inside a bubble. Following is a list of reproduction parts. Most of you will understand these parts are simply not available. However, they are date coded correct and authentic in their reproduction. Cap, rotor, wires Belts, hoses, clamps Exhaust h-pipe, muffler and tail pipes Brake & fuel lines Vac. Hose set Starter solenoid, voltage regulator Battery, cables Fuel, brake line & wire kits Main Motor compartment wiring harness Smog clamps - the tubes and on this car are original Trunk mat Koni Shocks Stripe kit Headlights This car has radials as opposed to the correct Polyglass tires. I do like to drive my cars, and if any of you have ever driven a car with Polyglass tires you know stopping that car isn't very easy. All other parts are reconditioned original or NOS All Chrome parts are original and have been rechromed at a cost of $8000 The motor has over $7000 of work by a highly reputable Ford engine builder. The engine has been blue printed, balanced, cooked, etc.. Only the best parts were used to restore it. This car was originally an automatic. I converted it to a four speed with ALL original Shelby NOS parts, they were not cheap. I have all the orignal parts to restore the car back to automatic if someone desires. They will be included in the sale. Although the restoration was finished 18 months ago it's still fresh out of the box restored. The car was striped to bare metal and fiberglass, painted with PPG base clear. The car was primed with Epoxy primer using factory correct underbody "overspray", all inspection paint "dabs" all part striping, is correct. I have around 80 pics of the restoration, if you would like additional photos please contact me and I will be happy to provide them. I have the history of this vehicle, with the original owner, and myself. There were two previous owners who never titled the car, but purchased it to flip. I have an Elite Marti report and other documentation that goes with the car. Just e mail me your fax number and I will be happy to fax you the Marti report or whatever you need. Again, this is a NUMBERS MATCHING CAR. The engine, transmission, rear and drive shaft are original. This car retains the original Marchel Fog lamps that were recalled in the U.S.A. According to Ford documentation this was the only 1968 Shelby Convertible shipped to Canada, therefore the fog light recall was not performed. These fog lamps are very rare and hard to come by. I did a lot of research when restoring this car, which was performed at my facility. I oversaw every step of the restoration on a daily basis. I added the stripes, changed the transmission and tires. Otherwise this car looks like it did coming out of the factory. In the cleaning process we would lightly clean the part, check for any identifying marks, record and restore. This was the kind of car you could do that with. The original fiberglass was in immaculate condition. When soda blasting the fenders the Shelby numbers & inspection marks came clear, and were retained in the restoration. I personally put every effort into making this the best Shelby GT500 I could with the knowledge and parts from the sharpest folks I could reference. On May-16-10 at 06:49:52 PDT, seller added the following information: To all bidders, unfortunately I forgot to place a reserve on this auction and I cannot change that now without ending the auction. Therefore if the car has not reached an acceptable amount within the last few hours of the auction, I will be forced to end the auction early. I'll give you all a tip, if it's not over 110,000 I will end the auction. Thank you and sorry for the mistake.
