Hey There- For sale is a VW golf I assembled from several cars a couple of years ago for my wife which we affectionately refer to as the "panzer" and "Frankengolf". It originally had a 1.6 NA diesel which I took out and installed a 1.9 turbodiesel from a '93 Jetta in its place. Wow what a rocketship but it was really too much motor for the car. I just got it back from inspection and it needed a control arm bushing and the horn didn't work which kind of annoyed me because everything else on the car is practically new from the major build less than 5000 miles ago. We also have several Suzuki Samurais which are popular for converting to VW diesel and I have been thinking about yanking the 1.9TD to put in a Samurai anyway so this auction is for the car minus the engine as a rolling chassis w/ all the VW parts I've hoarded over the years. Its time to say Adios to the Panzer. During the rebuild, I completely stripped the car, painted it (not perfectly) and reinstalled everything. Along the way, I bought an OEM GTI Radiator support, grill, and interior for it, put in all new brakes, rotors, CV shafts, brake lines, Exhaust, and had a bunch of stuff I intended to put in but never got around to. I have a complete rear disk brake set up, tons of valuable electrical parts, A new driver side drip rail/door seal that went for around $300 (no longer available from VW) an extra set of HELLA headlights currently selling on EBAY for over $250, a new set of rear side glass rubber, spare starters, waterpump, hoses, door handles, locks, you name it. If you had to go out and buy all this stuff you could easily spend $1000 (if you could find it). The car is sitting on new tires w/ under 1000 miles on them and also comes with a full set of winter tires and rims that have one more season in them. The headliner is out but I still have the rigid foam piece which is fairy fragile/brittle so haven't tried to recover/ install it. I also have the original 1.6 NA diesel which ran fine when I pulled it and could be reinstalled for a 45 mpg commuter if you choose. I want $500 extra for the 1.6NA in addition to the final selling price. If it doesn't sell, it'll go in a Sami. We're looking for a good home for Panzer and have priced it very fairly to encourage a quick sale. Call if you have questions. 570-864-9903 8am-9pm EDT. Please no insulting offers. Now for the ugliness; I've had a number of calls asking to sell the car w/ the TD. I really don't want to sell the engine. I've invested over $3000 in a complete top and pump rebuild. It is basically new. If you really want it as is, the price is $4000. Another question was what is the price with the 1.6NA reinstalled. Price is $1800. It will take me two days to reinstall the original engine which has Approximately 180,000 miles on it. It has new glow plugs, uses no oil, and runs great. I was getting 45-48 mpg when it was in the car. I prefer to sell the car without an engine and keep them for Samurais. I know there are a bunch of young bucks out there who love A2s but might be a little "flaky". DO NOT BID IF YOU ARE INCAPABLE OF FOLLOWING THROUGH. I will hunt you down like the dog you are if you reneg. You must pay at the end of the auction. Sorry but I have no patience for jerks and in this day and age there are more and more of them.
