Vehicle Detail
Well, I'm relisting this great old truck due to a butthead who tried the old "here's a cashiers check for more, send me the difference" routine. The stolen and copied cashiers checks have led to an FBI investigation. He had made over 700 ebay and craigslist purchases. My apologies to the previous bidders. This old bugger was bought new in Northern California, and spent the next 69 years right there in the same town. I ended up with it about 3 years ago, and have enjoyed simply looking at it. But, that's not just not fair for the old critter. It deserves to be at least up and running, something I just haven't had the time to do. It does turn over with the starter, so I suspect there is nothing drastic wrong with it. As far as I know, this truck was in the same ownership from new 'till my friend snagged it and called me. Somewhere along the line, the bed gave way for a flatbed, which was home made, so needs a bit of TLC. Back in 1972, the radiator went south, so the owner removed it and took it to a shop. Next thig he knew, the shop was gone, and so was his radiator. I have one that goes with the truck. When I opened the hood, it looked exactly like it did on that day in '72 when it was taken apart. The fan was off, the hoses were on and the battery was still in and hooked up. I have no doubt but what this mill would run. Now the trans is a different matter, The shifter is froze up, so I would assume that condensation got into the top plate and corroded the shifter ball and sliders. The brakes work, and don't even leak fluid. Okay, Okay!!!!!!! They're mechanical.......As you can see from the picture of the underside, there is no rust in the chassis, and I would love to hear those two smitties cackle. The Chassis and gas tank have been cleaned and painted, so I expect that the owner was doing a bit of cleanup while waiting for the new radiator. The body looks like crap, 'till you look close. There is a small (quarter size) spot of rust bubble in the bottom leading edge of both doors, and that is it......period. The bottom jams of the doors and sills are fine. It has a bullet hole in one fender, and the filler is missing from the body seams. The paint is thick and thin, and gone, which is why it looks so bad. Actually, I love the patina, but then I'm a tad wierd. The bed is pretty much shot, which can be expected. It rolls pretty easy, although the steering is tight, and I have a couple extra wheels. The glass in this puppy is all good, no cracks. In fact, check the picture of the front, with the doors open. The windows are rolled up...... Please feel free to call, should you have questions, or want additional pictures. I can store the truck for a while if need be, at no charge. There is no title with the truck. I can get one here, but one can be had most anywhere, and if I get one, I'll have to pass on the fees and costs. Thanks for looking.
