Vehicle Detail
SUPER CLEAN VINTAGE BMW I purchased this BMW in March of 2009 from a man who had been collecting vintage BMWs. I got it on eBay for $2,850, a great deal for a car this clean because it was not running. It turned out to be a loose grounding wire which was causing the computer work improperly. Now it drives great and since then I have been driving it every day. The condition is very good. Drives wonderfully. I believe in full disclosure so let me tell about all the things that do not work, or just need attention. Things that do not work. Original factory trip computer. Heated door locks. Cruise control. Reverse lights. (I never dug into it but doesn't seem like it could be too big a deal) Speedometer/odometer. (stopped working a couple of weeks ago, just needs speed sensor replaced. I have worked out how fast I am going by watching the tachometer) The odometer is connected to the speedometer so for the last few weeks it has not been working. So that means that technically there is a mileage discrepancy. However, right now it reads 148,345 miles, last March when I purchased the car it read 130,902 miles. You can see this printed on the title and if you do the math you can also see that I have been driven this car 17,443 miles since I bought it.That's just over 300 miles a week. The drivers side rear speaker does not seem to be hooked up. Things that do not work properly all the time. The passenger side rear door does not close just right all the time so once in awhile I have to close it more than once. But when it is closed the alignment looks fine so I think it may be the lock sticking. Sunroof sticks sometimes but usually works fine. Brakes need pumped a little but work great. The master cylinder was replaced and they have not been bled properly. The power window switch for the drivers window sticks sometimes and I have to wiggle it. There is a dummy light on the dash that says oil change due that has been on ever since I've owned it even though the oil has been changed regularly. The automatic climate control system does not function properly. It doesn't function except for the defrost, which works really well. I had it checked out and was told that the electric control box was the problem.I tried to remove the box and cracked the little color piece on the box itself. The ac,system seems to be fine, and it worked until May of 2009 which was when the climate control system quit. The heat works and blows hot along with the defrost when you push the defrost button. Cosmetic flaws. There is a crack in the drivers side marker light lens. (A girl hit it in a parking lot but it is so small that we didn't see the need to replace it. It did get a new headlight and some touch up paint) There is a very small dent in the front passenger door just under the door handle from a grocery cart.(you can see this in the pictures) There is a paint chip on the hood a little smaller than a dime. (in the picture the silver dot beside the chip is a dime) There is a small chip under the passenger side tail light. There is a very small area of rust on the inner flange of the drivers side rear fender. (please see the pictures) It is about two inches long, by half an inch wide at the most. The paint looks good from a few feet away but if you get really close you can see some tiny cracks from age, minor orange peel and touch ups. However, this thing looks really good in general. There is a small tear in the Passenger side rear leather on the seat about the size of a tic tac (I couldn't get a picture to show it because it is that small) New parts and other details New master cylinder New tires (one week old) Spark plugs. cap and rotor. Engine crank position sensor was replaced. (this tells the computer where the crank is so it can spark at the proper time) Clutch feels great Engine runs smooth and has plenty of power. Shifts smooth Nice and quite ride Goes straight down the road. Oil has been changed regularly using Mobile 1 synthetic. Rear end and transmission lube has been changed and is also synthetic. (About 2k miles ago.) Steering wheel does not shake, or vibrate No cracks in any of the glass. Does not burn oil Good on gas (about 25mpg on the freeway) Seats are in great shape (the drivers seat foam has a little more wear than the others but for it's age it is still very good) The dash has no cracking (I think it has been replaced) New Sony stereo CD player The wood interior trim is in great shape. No rust except what I mentioned. (not undercoated so you can see that it's not rusty) Please ask any questions you like. I certainly do not want any surprises, or to mislead anyone about this car. Thank you. Also, if you message me and want to talk about anything I will give my phone number if it would make things easier.
