PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT YOU WILL COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. Now that that is out of the way... You are bidding on a 1967 MG 1275 four door sport sedan and a bunch of spare parts. Not quite what you'd call a survivor, but very close! I LOVE this car and hate to sell it, but it needs a better home than I am able to give it right now. This is a very rare variant of the MG 1100/1300. The excellent history at www.bmc1100.co.uk says "In June 1967, the MG, Riley, Vanden Plas and Wolseley 1100 models became optionally available with a 1275cc engine, they were then badged as "1275". This option applied only until October 1967 when the 1300 was introduced." Somewhere I read that only an estimated 400 of MG 1275 were built, but I can't find the reference right now so don't quote me on that. However, this is the only one my father or I have ever seen and I have been into BMC cars literally my whole life while my father has owned around a hundred of them over the last 40 years. The car for sale here was built with the 1275 option in May 1967 and delivered to the US in June according to the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate. The color is Connaught Green with Dove Grey interior and green carpets. This car has around 50,000 miles on it and is heavily "patina-ed" very original (the engine currently in the car is a rebuilt Austin America unit, but what I believe to be the original engine comes with the car). The car has a clear MD title, is currently registered, insured and drivable. Please read description and look at pics before asking questions, but then ask away! Here are the details: Exterior:Very solid shell with some minor areas of rust (front RH bumpstop is rusted and crushed, small hole up inside LH front wheelwell by firewall, some surface rust in places in engine bay, trunk floor). Recent welding: new rocker panels and floors patched as necessary. Bonnet, bootlid, doors free of major rust.Paint is original (except where noted below), oxidized and worn but cleans up relatively well. RH front fender was repainted sometime ago and is crazing w/ patches of surface rust. The rocker panels are new and are spray painted black. There are some major and minor touch ups around the RH rear wheelarch and some other places that are not the correct shade of green. There are various paint chips all over car that need to be touched up at least. Some tiny splatters of paint on doors, roof.Rear LH corner is dented, RH rear wheelarch is dented, small dings along RH doors from storageAll original chrome and trim I believe with some surface rust and minor pitting. Still shines up fairly well for the most part.Good glass all around.Rubber seals are probably original and need to be replaced. All lights work.Original and correct 1275 badge on trunk lid. Must be very rare.Interior:All original seats, door panels, carpets. Seats are solid but soiled from the years, should clean up with some effort. Small rip in rear seat. Front carpet dry rotted and ripped, rear carpet remarkably solid. Nice metal dash with wood effect paint. Period accessory gauges: tach, oil pressure, volts. Factory radio nonworking, under dash speaker box removed but comes with car. Two large cracks on dash top. Speedo not working because the cable is missing (two broke in the last few years). Mileage reads 46,xxx but is more like 50,000 b/c of running w/o speedo cable off and on.Rear window tray covering has shrunk and come unglued.Trunk liner panel and side panels in good shape. No headliner.Engine/transStandard rebuilt Austin America 1275cc w/ around 1,000 on it.4 synchro transmission with new clutch.New nylon capped u-joints (these are the good expensive ones)HydraulicsNew clutch master and slave cylinders and hose.New brake wheel cylinders, hoses, pads, shoes within the last 5 years, around 5k miles.New brake light switch.Good brake lines all around (some replacements, some original)SuspensionMetal hydrolastic lines replaced with Nylon. This is a common replacement and rated at many times the operating pressure of the system. Fittings to hydro units are brass compression to flare and are also rated way beyond the system, but there's probably a better solution. The right front fitting has a small weep due to the slight misalignment of the choke washer within the flare joint.Hydro units are not leaking.Front and rear suspension needs rebuild (some new parts are included with this auction)Steering rack inner bushing needs to be replaced, rack currently clunks b/c of this. This is a common issue with this type of car.Wheels are original and need paint. Hubcaps are scratched and dinged. Tires tread is pretty good, new tires about 5yrs/5k miles ago.Spare parts included:Two NOS rear doorsRH rear wheel arch repair panelOriginal 1275cc engine, dirty and oily but together. Runs but smokey.Spare damaged 3 synchro trans and diff.Various NOS door handles and small trim pieces.NEW brake rotors, balljoint kits, rear radius arm kits, wheel bearings, subframe mounts, inner tie rod kits, and probably a few other things.Bunch of used parts - supension, transmission, speedometers, trim, two hydro units with bad hoses, etc.Documentation:BMIHT certificate Original BMC passport to service, owner's handbook, and metal i.d. cardRecent bills for $3k in welding and $1k engine work, can't find the bill for the other $700 in engine work. Maryland titleNon-factory shop manual I've put a lot of time and money in this car in the last five years. My plan was to keep the car going as an occasional driver keeping it in its preserved state, but fixing whatever needed to be fixed. I'm realizing after a few years of this that I just don't have the time or facilities to do it. I have a very nice Bugeye Sprite that I need to pay more attention to. So, unfortunately I'm finally trying to let the MG 1275 go. I'm not really desperate to sell, so I do have a reserve and I won't disclose the amount. And I won't sell parts separately. The new owner will either appreciate the heavy patina and just keep maintaining it, or decide it's cool, complete, and rare enough to do a full restoration. Now the fine print. Please don't wast my time or yours. PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU HAVE ANY DOUBT YOU WILL COMPLETE THE TRANSACTION. Seems like every other car on eBay is relisted because people don't understand that placing a bid is a commitment to buy, not a license to decide. Fewer than 5 feedbacks please contact me before bidding. If you have questions please ask. If you want to come see the car before bidding please ask. $200 deposit by PayPal to be made within 72 hours of auction end. Balance paid in cash or M.O. on pickup. Pickup and full payment within 2 weeks of auction end. The MG is sold as is, where is (though I might be able to deliver within an hours drive, but ask first). No warranty expressed or implied.
