Vehicle Detail
Unique TR that was originally purchased in Coventry, England, for Overseas Delivery. As you will note, it is equipped just as UK versions were! It has steel wheels with no trim rings as delivered in the UK market, and a UK standard door mirror vs. the bullet type installed by dealers on US imports. And, of course, the British plates are still front and Rear! I have all the original documents stamped Coventry and dated in 1971! This has been a very well kept car through its life, with only 90K miles. Very rarely do these early TR6’s retain their original wood dashboard and pads, seat covers and door panels, all still in excellent condition as shown in the pics. Paint is older but presentable for a driver. Solid body and frame with only small places on rear quarters where paint is raised. Certainly a pretty car but not a perfect show car. A great TR to drive through the countryside as it runs and handles beautifully, shifts through all gears with no unusual noises, and is very tight. An ideal car for a restoration if you want an original car to make perfect, or it is just fine as is for a daily driver. This car comes with an original tonneau cover and top boot. ($500 separately if you had to buy them.) The original type Redline tires are nearly new tread-wise and will save you approximately $800! Note: The rear tail light lens missing in the pics will be included! This car is sold in as is condition with no warranties. It was owned and driven by the former president of the local British car club, who traded it toward my restored V8 TVR. The car will be sold to its next owner with a clear open title just as I received it from him. He had it priced at over $11K and assured me that it was in excellent condition, but I have put a much lower reserve on the car, as I just need the cash! Please ask questions if you want specifics and I will give honest answers. I do welcome bidders to inspect the car and you should make your own determination that it is in the condition expected prior to bidding, as there are no refunds partial or full. On May-01-10 at 18:41:08 PDT, seller added the following information: Many questions now that there is just over a day left! Yes, the engine and trans have been inspected by the local British car shop, and are in excellent shape. If the car does not meet reserve, then I can put you in touch with the shop owner and he will verify its mechanical condition (not open Sunday). Its most recent drive of any length was on the dragon, highway 129, 318 curves in 11 miles I think, and following that the Cherohala Skyway, and she did fine in those 4 hours. Still a risk to drive many hours in a 40 year old car for those of you who ask if you can drive it home across the country! Yes, the seats are the ones that came in it, with original covers in great shape. No, I cannot drive it to the nearest port for shipping overseas, but I do know a reliable, reasonable shipper who can transport the car, and I will assist with arrangements. Keep the questions coming, and note my new buy now price thousands less than I invested! Don't wait for hindsight, grab it!On May-01-10 at 18:53:26 PDT, seller added the following information: Oh, and by the way, the chrome on this car is very nice.
