Vehicle Detail
1977 R100RS. 25K original and documented miles - a true San Jose BMW special. Very clean and sanitary R100RS – you can ride it anywhere. This bike was purchased from San Jose BWM in 1978 and has all the San Jose BMW modifications done to it. Extremely complete documentation with all receipts (over 2.5” of receipts), SJ BMW promotional literature, magazine articles of 77 R100RS, etc - first two pictures are of literature/receipts - that 2nd picture of SJ receipt has over $2,500 of 1978 $ in modifications!. Krauser bags (with receipts and Krauser stickers from 1978). Bike was purchased and modified by Mac Dyson (who was later famous for his CA car collection). Bike is complete with original BMW Owner and Technical manuals, and 1978 Haynes manual. This is the most complete documentation of any BMW I have ever seen or heard of. All receipts since day 1. Over $5K in receipts w/majority of them from San Jose BMW. Bike went to sleep in 1987 with 23K miles and was brought back to life by BMW of Grand Rapids Michigan this past winter (2009). 1979 Modifications by San Jose BMW – all done when bike had 2,300 miles. SJ handling and performance kit including: modified shock springs, valve springs, kinamatics, updated rockers, BMW 276 cam, San Jose triple clamp, fork brace and modified swing arm, wide Lester wheels, ported and polished heads, 40MM exhaust, hi comp pistons, dual plugs heads, lightened fly wheel, lightened wrist pins, Dyna III w spark boost for dual plug, page after page of other modifications. 1979-1986: all service receipts by SJ BMW (and other CA BMW shops) until bike went to sleep. 2009-10 work: 24K mile BMW service by Grand Rapids BMW including new clutch and clutch components, new exhaust mufflers, new shocks, new hinges on Krauser bags, and new wire harness. Additionally, I have added new battery, steering head bearings, Thunderchild diode board with solid mounts, Motarrad Toyota Truck starter (more torque, less weight and less draw), new tires (Metzlers), new cables and rubber (grips, pegs), Parabellum windshield, all gaskets and seals replaced in rear end. Nothing but the best components with all nuts, washers, etc replaced, frame and other components painted. Dupont Viton fuel hose (look it up, the best). This is not your Uncle’s R100RS – its got a lot of power, but can idle through towns and cruise all day. Since I had to replace the foot pegs, I can say Mac Dyson was a serious rider and built us a great RS. Frame has been painted and touched up but body is all original - no dents, no dings - but some scratches. Spares: have rear snowflake wheel (worth $150), original windshield, original tool kit, original Bosch starter, original diode board (all work) and a big box full of parts, hardware, gaskets, etc. Summarize – unique RS due to first year, all the receipts, San Jose modifications, and current work using the best components available - no short cuts. Also, unique due to very low mileage and due to bike running flawlessly. An RS with all the current and past upgrades. Suspension, engine, & clutch are first rate. Body shows age but well taken care of. Everything works except the clock (I can't give Palo Alto $150 when my cell phone tells me the time). I sold my /2 in March (on Ebay - Chris, hope you are enjoying it) and discovered I can’t live without one (this is my 3rd RS so I am sure I can’t live without one of these either – just wish I could buy a bike from myself) so I am hoping to get my money (reserve) out of this this special bike (if not, I am more then happy to keep it and live without /2). Thanks for your time. $500 deposit via paypal and the rest within 10 days so that it hits my bank account and is confirmed. Ship Address Muskego Wisconsin 53150 Mark Hoffmanner 414 559-3284
