1958 Mercedes-Benz 220S PONTON with original LUGGAGE VIN # 180.010-8502340 Chassis # 180.010-8501431 Original (documented) 95899 miles. This car runs and drives like a dream. The engine starts right up, it runs strong but quiet with excellent oil pressure and no smoke at all. The 4-speed manual transmission shifts smooth with no hesitation or any unusual noises. This car can be driven every day without any work/repairs needed to be done to it. The whole body of the car is straight as an arrow without dents and just some minor scratches (nothing noticeable, nothing significant). The paint on this car is a three year old re-paint but it's good and shows well. Front and rear bumpers are the worst part of this car. They need to be exchanged (or re-chromed) in order for this car to truly shine. The undercarriage is absolutely original, strong, solid and unmolested. Surface rust/corrosion easily to be eliminated by brushing off and undercoating/painting. The whole interior of this car is in excellent shape (seats and door panels re-done 2 years ago, carpets could stand some cleaning). The wood is healthy and it shows well (everything there and intact), although, in order for it to be in showroom condition, it should be re-done. All lights, gauges, wipers and horn work properly. The clock does not (another, properly functioning, clock included and comes with the car). The whole brake system is in excellent condition (recently re-done at cost of $1800,-). The whole exhaust system is in excellent condition and does not need any repairs. * This car comes with its original luggage.* (please, see pictures) This is an absolutely amazing looking car which could be enjoyed immediately as it is or with just a little bit of effort brought into showroom condition.
